I can't win!
I was asked when we were having kids probably 195743756391048 times this holiday. I finally started flatout saying WE'RE NOT. That was fun
We got my older nephew some really awesome dinosaur toys since he's really into them this year...All I got was hysterics and yelling at me that we got his younger brother 1 present more than he got
Thankfully I consumed copious amounts of alcohol to drown out the annoyances

Wow....I can't believe you were yelled at about the number of toys.
My nieces and nephews know better--because I have no problem throwing their gifts in the garbage or breaking them in front of them if they show an ounce of ungratefulness.
On Christmas Eve, my nephew opened his gift from my sister, and he didn't realize there was a second present behind him. He suddenly wailed "WHY DO I ONLY GET ONE!!!!!!"
I snatched him up so fast and let him know if I heard that again, forget about his parents, he would be getting it FROM ME. My mom and I reminded him that no one has to buy him a damn thing and if he got just one gift from her, that's one more than he had.
The motto in our house is: You get what you get, and you don't get upset.

Re: I can't win!
My older nephew has been going through some really bad phases for a few years now (he's 6). Luckily, my SIL/BIL give DH and I full permission to discipline and "parent" him if he behaves badly or acts out, etc., which is great since not many parents will allow that. He has behavior issues and 2 weeks ago was the FIRST day in years that he and I had so much fun together, laughing and playing and saying "don't leave Aunt Heather" and "lets play Aunt Heather" Usually he is a nasty little terror and screams and cries at you. I had really hoped he was changing his attitude

Re: I can't win!
lol, I see your frustration. But I do try to keep presents equal as much as possible to avoid any hurt feelings when it comes to kids.
My brother, who is 16 years younger than me asked after opening all his presents, "where's the rest of the stuff I ordered"?
I thought it was hilarious, but also made that question into a learning experience about how his christmas wish list isn't an "order". lmao, kids- gotta love 'em!

Re: I can't win!
I would be so frustrated by this. People can be so rude.
I am always surprised that so many people on this site get harassed about not having kids. My DH and I have been married for 3.5 years and no one has ever said anything to us about having children.
