that all I want to do is smother my neighbor's face with a flaming pillow? Well, let me tell you why. I have to sit here and smell the disgusting, nasty smell of cigarette smoke while it fills my apartment and additionally, my daughters young, clean lungs. All because she is Smokey the Flucking Bear down there and refuses to open a widow, turn off her vent or go outside to smoke. She looks like a piece of smoked meat. Remember the woman in There's Something About Mary? You know who I'm talking about! She looks JUST like that, so imagine how much she smokes! All the complaints in the world have done nothing to solve this problem and my blood is boiling right now.
So, I sit here daydreaming of that flaming pillow.

my landlord downstairs is a smokeshop

i had a big prob a couple of months ago-we have a bathroom in our bedroom and it constantly smelled of smoke-so i asked her if there was anything open-vents? n she told me no

i got this odor eating stuff-i know that wont help the actual smoke getting into ur lungs-but it DOES clear up the cigarette smell

Contact the Department of Health and file a complaint. Tell them you contacted your landlord and he/she refuses to do anything about it. Second-hand smoke is a serious health concern and let them you know you have a young child. They may be able to help you. She has a right to smoke in her apartment, but, she doesn't have a right to pollute the whole building.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe I need to call the Board of Health. I had this same problem in Massachusetts and the Board of Health was so nice and helpful. And there, the person who was the culprit felt so bad and he was at least reasonable when it came to trying to cut down the smell and was interested to hear what hte board of health could do. They ended up finding the vent that all the smoke was coming through and closing it up. But here, it's comnig through the kitchen vent, the heating vents, everything

Well that's rude. Can't she go outside to smoke especially since you have a baby. FYI: Air purifiers help alot with the smell.

seriously you have a right tclean airand there was some recent legislation about this. Complain to your landlord and inisist that she get some sort of air purifier. Your landlord has a responsibilty to you.

The problem seems to be that we live in a large complex and no one cares abotu what we say. We have a property manager who does nothing. We had a huge leak in a kitchen cabinet a few weeks ago, and to fix it, they came and dug half our ceiling out to "redirect" the leak. W T F? So, that's how they fix things around here.
LUCKILY we are moving soon, but still. I cannot take this anymore.
