I could really use some advice/opinions please (sorry, long)
I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and it's starting to make me go crazy.
I am a single mom and currently working as a buyer for a sales company and all though it is not bad for a job right now it is not something I want to do for the rest of my life, and also I would like to make more $$ for the future (which I do not think I will be able to here) for dd and I.
Now I am very young (I will be turning 23 in a couple of months) but I just had dd 2 and 1/2 months ago and the thought of going back to school is scaring me because I do not want to leave her at night too. I dont want to miss any part of her life, especially right now.
My problem is allthough I could wait a little while to go back to school because I am young, since I will be going part time it is going to take me much longer to complete it. I have been looking into going for nursing and it looks like it would take me about 5 years to finish. and that would be me going 2 nights a week the least.
So basically I dont want to be away from dd all day a few days a week.. but I also would like to get a jump start on going back to school considering it will take me that long. What should I do?? TIA

I think I would follow your dream and start school - if it gets too hard, then you can take a break or put it on hold for a little longer. You'd be doing it for both of you - very admirable!
Good luck!

This is a very difficult decision, and I'm not sure how I would handle it if I were you. All I can say is there will NEVER be a good time to leave your child. Whether you do it now while she's young or later when she's more aware of your leaving - it will always be hard. With that said, my mom went back to (nursing) school when I was 11 and she was always at work or at school or doing something to take care of her kids. She had very little time for herself, and of course I would have loved it if she was around more, but she set a wonderful example of bettering one's self, reaching for more, hard work ethic, putting your family first, etc. It took her 3 years, and then she was able to get a much better job, work less, and spend quality time with her kids. I'm very proud of her for doing that for her family and for herself.... HTH.

Can you take online courses?
I was thinking about that but I am not sure if you can do it for nursing and also I heard it is even harder. I guess especially because I will have dd home with me and only me to watch her.

I would look into going back to school. I am kind of in the same position. I'm married so I'm not the sole provider, but I don't make a ton, nor will I ever in my job. I am looking into a sonography course, but it would mean coming out with about $25,000 in student loans, when I already have almost $30,000 from my undergrad.
But I think you have to do what's best for you and your DC. If the outcome in the long run means you will be able to provide better and feel better about providing for your DC then def look into it. If it becomes too much you can always take a break.
