I didn't have my 1 hour glucose test yesterday

I left work early and rushed to the lab to have my glucose test yesterday.

My doctor specifically told me (TWICE) NOT to fast for it. So, I get to the lab at 415pm and I tell the woman I am there for the glucost test so she can give me the drink. She says "we don't do that test this late in the day" I said, "I made an appt online" She says "you are not on the list" I said "so, what does that mean??" She said "well, we don't do the test this late bc you need to fast" I said "my doctor told me not to fast" She said, "ok, I can do the test and you will fail. then you will have to come back in the morning FASTING adn sit here for three hours and I will draw your blood 4 times and you will be miserable, trust me" NASTY! I said, "fine I will come back in the AM"

I called my dr and the dumba$$ girl who answered was like "we normally don't tell ppl to fast, but if the lab tells you to, just do it so you can get the test over with KWIM?"



So, Now I am going tomorrow at 7am and I am so nervous as I have horrible M/S with severe vomitting everyday. And I need to fast. So, that will be worse. I drink gingerale every morning, so that I can puke that up and get it over with. I can't have anything tomorrow, so I will be dry heaving and sick and I'm nervous I will throw up after drinking that nasty stuff!

Here's the thing.
If the Dr said not to fast then don't. But don't tell the lab that if they are going to be rude and nasty.
Have breakfast. Say yeah yeah I fasted.
And screw her.

And for the record- that woman should be reported. Basically telling you the 3 hour test is miserable. Well what if you need the 3 hour test after all? Way to scare you!

Sorry that happened to you That lab woman was a b!tch. I hope you deal with someone different the next time you go.

In my current heightened state of pregnancy rage I would have told her to give me the friggin test and when she gets her MD then I'll give a rats azz about what she says vs what my Dr says

I am repeating my 3 hour tomorrow. So i understand. And I am the same way with the vomitting. I had to take the 1 hour twice. I literally threw it up after I drank it. It came out like the exorcist..lol. My doctor told me I could take a zofran. I did and thats how I was able to complete the first one. Which I failed anyway and now the 3 hr i will try again tomorrow but the zofran did not help me. I pray i can keep this crap down!! I will be thinking of you tomorrow!! Good Luck!!!
