I don't get it. Is it just me?
I get emails from monster.com and careerbuilder.com with job postings. careerbuilder has significantly more than monster.
I have replied to a few that I was qualified for, but hear nothing back. I have to admit, I do not follow up either.
But, how can there be ALL these "supposed" openings, some which I am quite qualified for and hear nothing.
Some of the ones on careerbuilder say "Few have applied for", which are usually the first ones I check out.
Really need a job, and though I am not 100% into it right now, I am putting some effort in.

Re: I don't get it. Is it just me?
How is your resume looking? I thought my resume was kick@$$ and I even had an HR person help me with it. Then I went to a recruiter and she pointed out a lot of things that might have been preventing me from getting called to interview. Since I changed it I have been getting more interviews.
Also the job market sucks right now & many people are applying for jobs they are not necesarily qualified for. it makes for a lot of "paper mess" for the HR people trying to filter through the applicants, and some get overlooked.

My company gets swamped with resumes every time there is a job posting. It takes a while to read through them and pick the best potential candidates.

I have always been unsuccessful with online resumes submitting in the past.
I have often wondered if those jobs were even legit.

I am a Recruiter & I'm looking for work also. I know from exp., that companies get a huge amount of response for most positions, causing the recruiter to sort through all the resumes. But, you (the recruiter) have to jump on those that are qualified or usually when you (the recruiter) get around to calling the qualified ones (us), they're taken. That's me! Call me, I'm free now! Good luck on your search!

Re: I don't get it. Is it just me?
have you gone on indeed.com? someone on LIF told me about that website and I found it SO helpful! indeed will pull up most of these but also go on linkedin.com, create an account for yourself and check jobs there.
finally, and this is JMO, don't call to check if they received your resume. granted, i've never been in the position where i was doing the hiring but i've watched my old boss do it and she always ripped up the resumes of people who would call to follow up. a lot of places will even say in the description do not call to follow up so when you do, right off the bat you're demonstrating that you (I'm not pinpointing here, I mean in generalities) don't follow direction.
good luck! the perfect job is out there for you. I PROMISE!!!!

I think you should pinpoint specific companies you are interested in working for and check their websites for job postings daily. Send your cover letter and resume directly to the companies you are interested in, referencing the specific position and your desire to work for XYZ company.
This is the only way I have gotten any jobs. I always have NO luck with Monster, recruiters, and college recruiting fairs.
Good luck!!!!!!! JOB DUST
