and PS- calling someone partisan when you dont even know ANY of their political views is just as ignorant as classifying someone based on other things like religious views, cultural views, etc.

I seldom comment directly on a person's perspective... I only do it when I feel I am being criticized unduly and my comments taken out of context. you threw the first stone

I think politically there are so many more issues that we can agree on - yet we focus on what divides us.

But I think the real devil is the 24 hour "news" channels which are nothing more than partisan talking heads. It's as if these commentators cannot say one positive thing about their opponent or they will burst into flames. Their candidate is always right, all of the time. It brings down the level of discourse and instead of talking about substantive issues that unite us, we focus on trivial matters and resort to name calling.

ITA on all accounts. I actually had a post typed up before about how, statistically, the majority of us fall somewhere in the middle, and overlap more than they differ.... but it wasnt coming across clearly so i deleted. But, you made the point that i [almost] tried to.

OMG I just wrote that exact thought to my cousin in an email 4 hours ago!

I believe that the partisan bickering is the intent of the parties... becuase it obscures the genuine issues so candidates never have to promise any genuine change or be accountable for their actions. sure, talk about lipstick... anything but discussing actual policy or lobbyist associations.

very little policy discussed tonight. only in super-general terms. very very convenient for both of them
