I don't know how to start table foods!
DS is a big 10 month old. He eats puffs and I give him fruit in the net thing but other than that, he eats stage 2 and stage 3 food and yogurt.
I want to transition him, but I don't know where to begin!
Any advice?

Re: I don't know how to start table foods!
I give DS all different sorts of things, cheese, potatoes, bread, pasta pick ups(he loves these!), blueberries, scrambled eggs(another big favorite), pastina, ham or turkey rollups. I just let him try stuff we are eating, and if he eats it, we keep trying. Also, we give him cooked veggies(I just cook them a little longer for him so they are soft enough to chew)

I am having a hard time with this too. I am petrified of him choking. So far I have just tried cheese, lots of puffs, cherrios, breads, yogurt drops...but i know I need to expand the horizons soon. I figure his 9 month check up is next week, I'll ask the Ped what is safe.

This morning I gave DS his first table food meal. He had a waffle and a banana. I am more concerned about nutrition than choking.

Re: I don't know how to start table foods!
i just started by cutting everything up into smaller pieces.
pasta w/ butter or sauce and peas
cut up soft fruit.. bananas, peaches, plums, grapes
Eggs, pancakes, waffles, french toast
cheerios, kix
French Fries or baked potato
cheese chunks (crumbles were great)
DS has been eating table food (no baby food) since he was 7 months (hes 10 months now) and at first i just watched him and made sure the pieces he was eating were small enough so he couldnt choke on them.
They get the hang of it.

Re: I don't know how to start table foods!
I just started with small things that were soft and see how she did... so far at 7 months she is fine with puffs, cheese, very soft melon, mashed potatoes, ripe bananas, pancakes.
But I have only given her these as a supplement to baby food...

Re: I don't know how to start table foods!
Thanks ladies! I'm going food shopping today and I feel overwhelmed. I'm reading all of your woderful ideas and I can't help thinking: What brand of cheese? How much? What the heck are yogurt drops?
I know I just have to go with my gut and try some new things, but I'm so scared to do it "wrong". I don't want to mess up his nutrition!

Re: I don't know how to start table foods!
try pastina piece of american cheese - regular velveeta or whatever you buy. pieces of banana macaroni cut up cooked carrots yogurt - any kind, if you do organic try Yobaby.
your not going to mess up his nutrition, he'll just never want jarred food again!
