I don't usually start these kinds of posts ...

but I'm in total shock and completely devastated ... I was told last night that I am on "the list" to be laid off on Friday. Chat Icon

I cried all last night, fell asleep and woke up again around 2AM and cried until 4:30 ...

I know I probably sound overly dramatic but it's just such bad timing ... my DH was finally on board with TTC (I turn **40** in a month! Chat Icon) so it's now off the table ... which could be permanently.

I had to stay home today because my eyes are so swollen and I'm not supposed to tell anyone at work that I'm on the list! I know I'd be busting into tears all day if I was around people!

I think it would have been better if you didnt get any advanced notice. Sometimes it easier to take the shock and then be gone. How do they expect you to go back to work like nothing is going to happen!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I am sorry! My mom got laid off when she was 52 and she found another job. Its not easy. Will you be able to collect unemployment? if not why not find a simple job til you get pregnant.

I'm so sorry. DH has been laid off twice since I've known him. Both times he has just missed the cutoff. Good luck

I've been laid off before- I know how bad it hurts and how shocking it is.
Just know that everything happens for a reason and you will probably find something even better in the long run!

Hang in there!

I'm sorry.

If it helps you at all, we were having layoffs last month & were able to save someone by transferring them to a different department that wasn't having layoffs.

Ok, put it out there...what is it that you do? type of job you're looking for?

Aww I'm so sorry. My dh lost his job in April and didn't find work until Oct. Think of it this way--when one door closes another one opens.

What field are you in? Maybe some people here will have some leads for you to find a new job quickly.

Good luck -- and I'm so sorry! Chat Icon

Definitely so sorry to hear about this. I know it might not be much comfort now but you will find something else. My friend lost her job a few weeks before christmas and just started a new job this week.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm sorry. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I've been paid off before and it stinks. But try to stay positive. Everything happens for a reason. In my case, I was able to find a job at a company I love making $10k more a year. It will work out for you as well.Chat Icon

Re: I don't usually start these kinds of posts ...

so sorry to hear this, but please don't be all doom and gloom for long.

Give yourself a week to have a pity party and then get going. Find yourself another position that makes you happy. Start TTCing in about 4 months and by then you can go out on maternity leave.

I'm sorry this is happening. There's never a good time to get laid off. But there's something out there for you that's better.
