Ok..make me feel better about myself.

I hate that I have a part of our day that I usually dread...but I do. Does anyone else???

I hate lunch time! Hate!!!

For some reason, this is the one meal she doesnt feed herself. So I have to sit down with her for like an hour..try to entertain as I feed her or else she eats NOTHING. It takes so long and its literally so exhausting. And so REPETITIVE!!!

I feel bad feeling this way but the rest of our day is great. It used to be bath time that drove me nuts..but now sometimes we shower together which just makes it so much easier. So now its lunch time.

Do you have a least favorite time of the day or activity with your dc?

Re: I feel bad for saying this but...with question..

actually EVERY meal lately is pure torture with DS...

Breakfast is a crap shoot..depending on what I offer him

Lunch - he just does NOT eat at ALL so I've resorted to giving him a drinkable yogurt and calling it a day:Chat Icon

And Dinner is hit or miss..(if he hasn't napped, it's usually a nightmare because he is overtired)

He's impossible lately with eating and I dread the entire process: cooking/preparing/ putting him in booster seat/ wathing the food getting thrown around and/or hearing the NO NO NOs that get yelled when he is given something he doesn't want.Chat Icon

I work during the week so I only see her for about 3 hours at night, so usually during the week we're good.

On the weekends the thing I dread the most is trying to put her in for a nap. She fights going to sleep during the day now, but if she doesn't sleep then she is just sooooo cranky.

Sadly, dinner time.
I never look forward to it!
Bryan is a GREAT breakfast eater, does good with lunch, but, dinner all he wants is chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, or fish sticks.
He ONLY likes corn. All other veggies get thrown at the cat.
He's sooo picky at dinner time.
He won't even TRY pasta, or mac & cheese, but, he LOVES cheese! I just don't get it!

My mom and my sister got a kick out of a "Grilled Cheese" shirt I bought for him at Children's Place cuz they know that's ALL he wants.

I think tonight, he's going to have breakfast for dinner. I need to go out anyway, so, it will make it easier for both of us.

Dinnertime is rough at our house....after I work all day I feel like all I want to do is sit down and enjoy a meal with DH and DD, but either she's whining the whole time because she doesn't like what we feed her, or she's throwing her food all over the floor, or she's crying because she wants to get out of the high chair. It's enough to make anyone batty!

I was unsure what you meant that lunchtime has to be fed to her. You mean spoon fed? If so , why? Why couldnt you just cut up a sandwich or cut up hot dogs etc...
I am not finding feedings to be difficult...now bathtime....thats another story Chat Icon

Ugh YES! Bathtime!!! Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.

I spend the whole time preventing Abby from diving under the water while attempting to actually wash her and then after all that fun, have the pleasure of combing Katherine's hair out for 15 minutes--oh yeah, and that's with a conditioner and a detangler spray. Meanwhile, I'm sweating like a pig and my fingers go numb from the comb-out.

So when you don't see my answer on the "How often do you bathe DC" posts...just know my reply would be: Every day? HE11 NO!!!!

Re: I feel bad for saying this but...with question..

I absolutely HATE putting them to bed. I have not been blessed with children who I can just put in their beds and then walk out of the room. We've made progress where I don't have to rock or hold hands with either of them, but I have to be in the room.

It's like they take turns bc the nights Nate falls asleep in 10 mins are the nights that Jayden takes 30-45 mins and vice versa. So after spending 30-45 min waiting for them to go to sleep, they end up waking up at some point in the night.

It's so frustrating bc after that I still have to make dinner for DH and I. What pis.s.es me of more is that DH is sitting on his a$$ watching TV or "working" (he's really on the internet bullsh!ting). His excuse for not putting them to bed is that they think it's play time when he does it. Hmmm, maybe if try putting them in their room instead of telling them to lay down on our bed while you are watching TV. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I honestly am at a loss on what to do.
- CIO doesn't work bc they end up waking each other up.
- I'm not comfortable separating them bc out 3rd BR is on first floor and I think they are still young to be on separate floors.
- I don't know how to get rid of the "monsters" that Nate is afraid of.... we tried stuffed animals/toys, night lights, lamps, hall lights, talking about them, etc....

There have only been a handful of times that I've slept with out interruption for 2 consecutive nights in the last 3 yrs. I don't even want to have another kid bc I'm convinced that I'll have another bad sleeper.

Sorry for the hijack but this is one of my major pain points right now.

this is DS#2 exactly! He was sucha good baby food eater too! What happened?!

My mom says, just feed him what he likes, give him the option of something else and make sure he gets his vitamin. I have felt much better after she said this to me.

Right after DS#1's nap. I dread waking him because I know he's going to be rough the rest of the day.

Bath time can be rough because I have two to bathe alone because DH works nights too.

What you described about your lunch is every meal in our house! I have to sit next to DD and feed her or else she won't eat. God forbid DH tries to sit & feed her while I am present. She tells him to get up so Mommy can sit down. The poor guy!

Re: I feel bad for saying this but...with question..

I hate leaving my parents' house in the afternoon these days. Within the past few weeks DD SCREAMS and cries when we leave. I try to pick her up and walk out and she screams. My dad offers to walk her out (she adores him so she goes). He puts her in the car and she wrestles with him to NOT get in. Finally when he gets her in, she screams and cries because she doesn't want to leave Grandma and Grandpa's.

I tried walking out of the house without her and she didn't care.Chat Icon But heaven forbid I take her out of their house.

Finally today I told her that Papa (Grandpa) would be coming over later. She calmed down a bit.

ugh! Separation anxiety and it is not even about being away from me...

DD, thankfully, is a fantastic eater and would eat anything I give her all day long if I let her.

Before DS I would say there is NO part of the day (a few months ago it would be nap time) I dreaded because she goes right to bed for naps and nighttime and enjoys her bath, BUT now that I have DS the entire dinner, bath, bed routine is torture. I do it alone since DH works late and if DS doesn't sit calmly through that 2 hour timeframe and DD is thrown off her routine its a freaking NIGHTMARE.

Last night I had both of the them screaming for 2 hours
Chat Icon Chat Icon He started since he was overtired and then she followed. I would calm one down and the other would start. I literally couldn't get DD to bed until my DH got home because I couldn't get them both calmed down at the same time. They both wanted all of me and wasn't taking no for answer!!!

OH can I add the 4am feeding for DS = hate that!!!!!! I need sleepChat Icon Chat Icon

Um, listen my dear, there are MANY times of the day that I HATE with Ava. MANY. Like when it's time to clean up. Or when it's time for me to make dinner and she's attached to my leg going, "But Mommy! But Mommy! But Mommy!" five thousand freaking times beacuse she thinks it will make me stop what I'm doing. Please, you're normal as normal can be my love. I used to HATE lunch time, too because it was liek pulling teeth adn Ava's an awesome eater! Have you tried letting her sit at a little table and chairs to eat?

Re: I feel bad for saying this but...with question..

Bedtime! I dread bedtime everynight! It's all my fault, I know. I created a situation where I have to take Charlie into my bed let him fall asleep then move him into his crib. It sometimes takes over an hour to get him to go to sleep and most nights it's well after 9 before he's asleep. Thinking back, I've dreaded bedtime since he was born which is why a probably started laying down with him.
