I feel defeated.
So, school only started a week ago, and I work in a very small school. We are a K-8 school that only has 122 kids. That means that, for the most part, there's only one section of each grade. It's a great place to teach because the classes are so small, and the kids are phenomenal. However, the people I work with just plain old s*ck. They're lazy coomplainers who love to hear themselves talk, and it annoys the hell out of me. I have been taking on extra lunch duties with the Kindergarten and first graders because they are so young, and the two lunch duty teachers need help. I run the National Junior Honor Society. I just started a campaign to raise money for victims of Katrina. I have already organized my winter concert. Point being, it's only a week into school, but I have my @ss in gear. I am just feeling defeated by the negative, b*tching teachers that I work with that do LESS work than is required of them, and then complain about how tired they are all of the time. And my headmaster had the BALLS to complain to me yesterday that he, "Found two snapple bottles in my garbage pail, and he frowns upon people who don't recycle." It wasn't even me, my room is a common area that people walk through. THEN he had the even bigger set of BALLS to stand up at our faculty meeting yesterday and make a big deal out of how he finds the people who don't recycle to be LAZY. SO, here I am, I have already organized all these things in one week AND volunteered to do extra lunch duties, all because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to, and he stood up and basically called me lazy. I was HYSTERICALLY crying on my way home from work yesterday. I'm just sick of people nay-saying and dumping their work on me

Re: I feel defeated.
Well, the best part was, THAT day, the janitor came around and told us to stop recycling because the town just throws them away, anyway
Thanks for the hugs, girls. These people just s*ck badly.

Just remember that you're better than them!
Most complainers and those that pick on others only do it because they feel lowly about themselves!

You need some of these girls...I don't know what to tell you. My DH is in a funk about his job too...he just started Monday and hates that his co-workers complain all the time and are lazy (he's worked there before, but its perm now). Plus he got into an accident on the way home today...soooooo, I know about low morale. What can I tell ya...hang in there and don't change a thing. YOU are not the problem!

I hope your day is better today!
I was told the same thing about recycling at my school. I guess it's true since we are both in the same town . I've given up faking recycling b/c the custodians just dump the recycling pail in with the regular garbage. I guess whoever threw out that snapple was just trying to save your custodian some time.

Re: I feel defeated.
I've been there. I worked at a small school where the recycling thing was a big deal AND we got in trouble if kids threw food trash in the wastebaskets, because 1.) they weren't supposed to eat in the classrooms and 2.) the principal was afraid of getting bugs. My standard response was that there is no way I can do everything I do in a day and watch the trash can constantly.
Tell the principal you would be happy to give up a few of your extra duties (like lunch duty) to keep a more vigilant watch on your trash can, if that is what he prefers. Hopefully that shuts him up. If not, don't worry about it and ignore him. My philosophy with teachers and admins. like that is that if they have THAT much time on their hands to worry about such stupid stuff, they are really out of touch with what is going on in the classroom.
