I feel guilty for being on LIF
when Frankie is napping. I feel like I should be doing some much needed housework since DH has been doing everything since we got back from the hospital (cooking, cleaning, laundry) when he gets home from work.
But I feel like this is the only adult interaction I get on a day to day basis and only help with my baby concerns and it keeps my sanity. This is my "me" time and without it I'd go nuts.
Am I horrible and taking advantage of DH?

I dont think your taking advantage of your DH, I am on here off and on throughout the day...its my adult interaction as well...maybe just spent a half the nap on here and the other half cleaning up a bit...thats what i try and do

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
No No No
Personally I don't think that you are taking advantage. You're home with the baby - your plate is pretty full too. Take the time you can and let him do whatever he can.
It won't always be this way. It's not often that it's truly 50/50 - someone will and has to do a little more...to me a healthy uneven split is one that changes...so maybe it's 70/30 (70 = him) right now but believe me there will be many times where it's reversed.
Stay here and hang out with us!

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
OMG you take the words right outta my mouth! I COULD have dinner ready at least before DH gets home, but I CLAIM that I can't get anything done until DH gets home to hold Gavin so I can start dinner. I don't think you're taking advantage of your DH at all... you work all day just like he does... except harder! I mean, he can take a break, go to the restroom, talk on the phone, etc whenever he feels like it. We can't!
I don't watch TV, so this is my downtime and way of interacting w/ other adults, too (all but one of my friends work). I do make sure I don't get too addicted by getting some cleaning/laundry done, in between too.
If it weren't for LIF parenting and pg boards, I wouldn't know how much I have in common with other moms on a day-to-day basis.

Don't feel bad - unless it's sucking too much of your time.
As for taking advantage of DH...I'm sure he shoots the breeze with co-workers about sports, personal stuff or pops on a website to check personal email.

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
No! I feel this way too sometimes.
What I do, I know how long Troy will nap so I set a timer and spend a SET amount of time doing something for ME. Be it checking email, checking out LIF, chilling on the couch with a cup of coffee, taking a nap, etc.
I make sure I do something "household" related also.
Please, I know DH doesn't feel even a OUNCE of guilt for sitting on the couch while I cook dinner!

Don't feel guilty but make sure you get other stuff done too. Otherwise if you don't your going to be miserable with that. I have my plate fullas well and there are days I come on and stay for a while and there are days when I don't have a second to even glance at the computer. Have fun with LIF but don't make it your priority. JMHO.

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
Thanks ladies. I went and unloaded the dishwasher and started a load of laundry so I feel better now.
I do need this and as long as it is not ALL I do it's okay to jump on and off when I have a few free minutes!

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
you shouldn't feel guilty! If it gets you through the day then you certainly need to be chatting it up on here! It's perfectly fine that DH is taking care of the housework! you are taking care of baby all day and that is tough work ! You need a break , just like the rest of us :) I'm on here a lot myself and squeeze in laundry and tidy up when I can!

Re: I feel guilty for being on LIF
Def don't feel guilty I am on here all the time while at work and when I was on maternity leave. It can get boring while on leave so I came on here for some excitement
Now I am home today and I was yesterday and I pop off and on throughout the day.
