I feel really silly asking this, but please bear with me. Re: food for baby
DS has been eating solids since 6 months. I make all of his food. He started with pureed fruits and veggies and now I just steam and cut up or very lightly mash (so it's still chunky but not too solid).
We started chicken (shredded with my fingers or little bite sized pieces). He LOVES chicken.
He tasted turkey at Thanksgiving and liked it, but we don't really make turkey throughout the year.
He LOVES spanish rice too. He ate a whole plate of it the other day! Not adult sized plate, but still).
I bought mini pancakes and he can easily eat 4 of them for breakfast. I've given them plain since I have no idea how else to give them to him, and besides, he eats them on his own so anything on them and he'd make a mess.
I still give him oatmeal made with formula.
But um, what else?
I feel like he needs to be eating more stuff, more variety of stuff, rather.
What can I give him for breakfast?
I'm going to try pasta for him - what types are best? How do I cook it (I assume cook longer than usual so it's softer, right?). Can I use any sauces? I assume so, but are any better than others for their little tummies?
I'm not stressing too bad about it just yet since he's not 1 year old yet, but I want to make sure I'm giving him enough variety and not literally the same exact thing every day.

Yesi this sounds amaaaazing! Lucky henry!!!
I still add fresh or frozen blueberries to S's mini pancakes, he loves them. At around 1 year I would nuke the berries right with the pcakes, to soften them up, then moosh them with the fork a bit.
For pasta, ds won't eat it but I've tried everything, whole wheat, plain, flavored, colored, bowties, angel hair, with sauce, without sauce, moist from the cooking water, dried with a paper towel, NOTHING. Won't even try it
Have you tried scrambled eggs for breakfast?

Some good things for when they are starting out:
Ditalini pasta with some red sauce, or a teeny bit of melted butter (if you do it this way throw some peas in there)
I give Quaker oatmeal Pancakes Cheese slices Meatballs Baked Ziti Turkey Meatballs Turkey breast Grilled Chicken Pork Chops Mashed sweet potato Raviolis Gnocchi Zucchini with some olive oil Any of the Dr. Pragers selections. Asparagus Cheeseburger
I will think of some more! By a year he was fully eating anything that I ate.

Logan's favorite food is scrambled eggs - sometimes with cheese and spinach, or mushroom and peppers, or sometimes just plain!

Yesi, if he doesn't have any allergy or sensitivity issues, give him whatever!!
Luce has been eating sauce on his pasta since about 8 months, maybe even earlier.
I made him ravioletti, tortellini, ziti, noodles. spaghetti and other long pastas are a ***** to cut up though. with some red sauce or some melted cheese (quick mac n cheese) or some butter or oil with parma!!!
for breakfast he eats farina, french toast, oatmeal, eggs, nutella on oat toast or croissants with banans. always has cut up fruit at breakfast. this morning he had a banana cut up with 3 kings cake. I also make things like banana bread, coffee "cake", and pumpkin bread and I give him that too.
for lunch he gets leftovers from dinner or eggs, beans, lentil soup, whatever.
he loves soup. beans, meat. haven't met a meat he wouldn't eat!

I've been giving DS whatever we eat since he was about 10 months.
Last night he ate cheese and chicken quesadillas, rice, beans.
He love baked ziti, meatballs, lasagna, stuffed shells. These were early favorites.
I would just cook for yourself and give him whatever you make to try.

Agreed. Once DS got a taste for real food, he didnt want baby food anymore.
So I would let him try anything you make for yourself.
Meatballs are always good, pasta, really any kind (but pastina is good for mixing with soup or veggies) DS LOVES ravioli and tortellini, veggie burgers, mac & cheese...
Like I said really anything if he is enjoying it and doing well with it.
For pancakes I used to put a little butter on or yogurt. DS used to like steak ( I would put it through the food processor on grind) them mix with a puree veggies.
Go with it if he is enjoying it!

DD pretty much eats what I eat.
Today we had scrambled eggs for breakfast and grilled cheese for lunch. Tonight I'm making turkey tacos and I will give her ground turkey before the seasonings (she has had other seasonings but this isn't necessary with the sodium content) and diced up tomatoes and lettuce.
She has had almost every fruit & veggie (from blueberries mangoes, strawberries, to celery, avocado, beets, zucchini). Salmon & flounder. Chicken (steamed, breaded, francaise style), beef, turkey. French toast, pancakes, waffles. Meatballs with garlic and onions.
Go for it!

Thanks everyone!
I guess part of the problem is that DH and I don't eat much of a variety of food either, lol. Gotta work on that.
