I feel stuck and need some help...
should I see the hematologist before I see Dr. T for my consult in January, since I found out this week I have a clotting issue.
Part of me feels like I don't need to see Dr. T, esp since this panel of blood work order by a dr from a consult is showing an issue. I know this blood panel might not be as complex as Dr T might order, but it is showing an issue.
For me time is running out and the clock is ticking.
If I need to be treated due to a clotting issue I would want to start right away, of course it the holiday next week and people are away..
a tiny part of me feels like its all too much and I should let having a baby go.
also, I am caught between two dr's and which one to use moving forward with treatments in general, one (LI IVF) wants me to see Dr. sher, the obgyn, but based on this site I would rather see Dr.T. Dr Z is the one who ordered the most recent blood panel would like me to see a hematologist. I decided to start with the blood wk bc its covered and I was told it take 2 weeks for result.
Yes, I had a 10 min consult with Dr. B this week he thinks I might have immune issues and wants more testing, but $$
As I write this part of me is disappointed in the latter, bc they had my results for two weeks and did not call to tell me I had a prob, this after I called the office looking for the result two times. I just called that office and asked them to fax the results to the hemo they recommended and gave them the #. They just called asking for the fax number. I said I just gave it to you, plus you should have it as you are sending me. This is 3 mess ups this week..ugh, I feel like Im at my old RE office. Perhaps this is not the office for me :(
the two offices are li IVF and Dr Z

I don't think it would hurt to go and get tested.
When I was pg I was very anemic I saw a hematologist in Bay Shore, I liked her and her staff a lot. Let me know if you would like her info.

Re: I feel stuck and need some help...
depending on the type of issues you have, you may not need to see a hemo. i know dr t runs extensive clotting tests as does dr b and they dont use hemos as much as other RE/RIs do because they rely on their own testing and research. I think you should just see dr t and then make a decision based on which dr you feel more comfortable with after meeting with him. i dont know who dr sher is but i personally would choose dr t or dr b when it comes to clotting issues. (and they differ when it comes to practice, so im not comparing them, just noting that theyre more knowlegable than other REs on this issue)
eta i had to see a hemo to get cleared for IVF and they were completely clueless when it came to some of my diagnoses that affected my fertility.

Re: I feel stuck and need some help...
Ugh! I feel Dr. B's office is chaos! It was chaos 4 years ago; and its only worse now. I was willing to give them another try a few months ago; but my first sentence proved to be true and never bothered with them again.
I would make the appt with Dr. T anyway. I was actually quite surprised that Dr. B recommended you see a Hemo only because many IF patients have clotting issues; where a hemo isn't needed.
Most RE's; for example; Dr. T in this case; would know how to treat you properly. Unless I assume its rare and severe??? But even that has me .
At this point; IMO, if you're appt is in January with Dr. T; wait until he tells you if you need to see a Hemo. I bet he wont' think its necessary.

Dr. Z was my first RE. While I liked him I never got preg after a year of tests and treatments. I was unexplained. I probably had the BW you are talking about.
Dr. T was my 2nd RE and I got preg my first cycle with him. I had immune tests which showed an issue.
If I was you I would meet with Dr. T for sure and see what his plan is. I would then go from there.

I go to this hemo office too. I saw dr Rubin when I was hospitalized due to clots and saw dr Rizvi after I was out.

Please do not rule out seeing Dr T. He is so knowledgable and specific. He won't push tests on you that he doesn't feel you need. Trust me he was my third dr and I was hesitant- more $$ in the city. But as soon as met him I knew that I liked him and want to try my last shot with him.

I have an appt next week, but the thought of traveling to NYC for me is stressful, I hate the thought of having to go in alone travel alone, sit in the waiting room alone...the appt is late in the so Ill be traveling in lots of traffic.
Part of me wants to just cancel at this point.

I think if you think you'd get excellent care from him, you should do it. I traveled from the Albany area to be treated at RMA in Manhattan. It was a huge pita. I stayed with family on LI and in Manhattan. I was separated from DH for 2 weeks. I then had to travel back to NYC twice for my beta and an ultrasound. In the end, it was worth the HUGE inconvenience because RMA got me pregnant with my DS.

Re: I feel stuck and need some help...
I'm pretty sure an IF vet went to dr t for the big appointments and was able to do monitoring in a more local office.
