I filled out a job app. online today for ATT poll included

I am sorry I sat here for 45 mins. filling this out only to finish and in five seconds get a rejection emailChat Icon Chat Icon I am sorry but i rather fill out a app in person and meet with someone then do the computer thing. I mean come on how is it possible to know if someone is "right" for the job in 5 seconds of a 45 min app on lineChat Icon I was really hoping to at least meet with someone. It has great benifits and the money is great too. plus it is right around the conner from me. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECTChat Icon

Wow did they at least have an explanation?!!! That is annoying!

I voted #3, they're ok but can't really judge a person like a face-to-face interview can.

Sorry you didn't get the job. Chat Icon

I've never done one, I imagine they are just a first step.

What kinds of questions did they ask?

If there are set in stone criteria that you have to meet, a computer is just as good at judging that as a person, but it doesn't leave room for making exceptions.

They probably get toms of applicaints, and this way they only meet with the ones with the right qualifiactions.

ETA: I voted other, because I think they can be a good first step.

It could be that the position was already filled or that they were only reviewing a certain number of applicants.

I am sure they have specific criteria for the job posting and an online application weeds out applicants that don't meet that criteria. It probably runs through a program and one response out of the accepted range will reject the application.

It's a shame it took you so long to complete the application, but in a way it's better that you know right away and not have to wait for someone to get back to you.

I don't think online applications are a bad idea. They could be screening for certain qualifications or skills. I wouldn't expect a large company, or any company for that matter, to spend time meeting me if on paper I wasn't what they were looking for.

I agree...for as disappointed as you might feel at least you don't have to waste time waiting or holding out for a response.

Good Luck!

We just met with companies for quotes on an applicant tracking system.

What they offer is an initial questionaire for candidates to fill out, along with an opt-out feature. In other words if our company requires a high school diploma & a candidate doesn't have one, a rejection email is automatically sent to the candidate.

My company plans on doing it because it eliminates a lot of EEOC reporting on job applicants.

My guess is that's what happened to you or that the job was filled. I wouldn't take it personally.

Re: I filled out a job app. online today for ATT poll included

thanks you for your ho. i have worked in this field before at radio shack and as with them i filled in the online apps and also went to meet with them in person and after them reviewing my online app they said that they would not have considered me becasue of the answers i gave. some of the questions the answer i would give would not be there so i would but the best answer i can. They asked some math questins on how you did in high school or if you where given a "." question whould you be able to answer above the normal person, just above, average, just under ave, below average(also alot of questions had these type of questions and answers) i put an HONEST ANSWER as best as i could on all my answers some where average or slighly above average. should i have lied and said above average and lied. and yes i am happy they did respond quickly but come one a real person did not look at it and yes a lot of people apply but are they hiring a computer or a real person. and as for the postion i know it is still available because i was in the actual store and the manger there told me he was still hiring. That's weird. If they wanted to test your math skills, they should just give you math questions.

Re: I filled out a job app. online today for ATT poll included

If you talked to him and said you had experience would he be able to make a judgement himself and hire you, or is there a policy where he can only use applicants from on-line? I would assume they use the on-line app to weed out people that don't fit the job, but if you had a similar job before and could explain it to him then maybe he would consider you?

I honestly would never lie on a job app, but I just wonder since you talked to him already and he knows you're interested maybe he could make a judgement call.

That's what I was wondering (although I guess people could cheat on-line, but like you said you could have just lied).

i thought that is what the questions where going to be like after i read that this part is about your math skills and i had i think 10 questions just like this for math. and with the "trick" questions ones that are aske a few times but worded diff. i answered all the same. like someone else said maybe i will go back today and speak to him and see what happens.
