I finally got my pillows and chairs from the Fabric Mill....I need your help with accessories!!

Finally the LR is almost done. I need some accessories and new lamps and that's it! Chat Icon

I had 3 of each of these pillows made (I need a bigger insert for the brown one)

External Image

And I had 2 of these chairs re-upholstered. They used to be an ugly blue velvet. Chat Icon

Here are my questions!!!

I need some stuff to hang on the walls....

I want to put something on the wall above this chair, but the thermostat is there Chat Icon Any suggestions?

External Image

I am going to move this mirror to the opposite corner of the room...and put a fake tree/plant there instead.
External Image

So I need something to hang on the wall on both sides of the fireplace. I was thinking about getting some kind of either matching or coordinating iron wall things
External Image

I also need better/different more things on the mantle without junking it up...

External Image

Any suggestions would be great - thanks!!

Personally, I like that mirror thing. I wouldn't change that at all. it goes so well with the mirror above the fireplace.

I can't suggest much above that beautiful chair, i like it as it is.

I almost think that putting more in there would "junk it up."

The mantle... some small things would be good. like those small topiarys that you can get at target might work to pull a little green in there.

I think that you are at perfection, to be honest.

ETA: maybe move the mirror behind the big chair in the corner?

the only thing I can think of to work around the thermostat is a tapestry or bell pull.
I think tall topiary or other potted plants would look great on the ends of the mantle. i remember what the chair looked like, it came out great. I love the room, you did a beautiful job!

What about some nice sconces (electric or candles) on each side of the fireplace.

I would put a picture or iron piece above the fireplace and then get a large wall mirror to lean behind the yellow/beigey chair. lean it right on the wall but it has to be like 5 feet tall

The only thing that I notice right off the bat is, did you ever consider caddy cornering the desk by the theromstat? Maybe it's based on the angle the picture was taken, but for some reason, I picture that desk caddy cornered, which would change the way the chair looks next to it and the amt of space near the thermostat. That's my immediate reaction. Otherwise, coming together nicely. I have a wall with a thermostat and I just put a picture right above it. Does detract from it a bit.

Another thing I noticed looking back. Did you ever try the desk on the left side of the fireplace (since the ceiling is so high there) and moving the club/arm chair caddy cornered to the corner by the thermostat? Maybe you tried it or won't like it but I think that might do three things
1) open up your entry entirely to your dining room (no chair even remotely blocking the opening)
2) big cushy chair would look very nice, fit perfectly caddy cornered in the thermostat corner area and you could put a nice big plant behind it to give it the height and might bring your conversation area a bit closer or a more comfortable angle
3) desk MAY (or may not) look nice b/c of the uneven ceiling height on your fireplace wall.

Just what I am thinking from seeing a few pics, but maybe if I saw your room, it would feel differently to me and it would clearly not work. Or maybe you tried it and it didn't look good. Just my suggestion, like I said, simply based on seeing a few pics but I could be way off.

ITA and place the tri-fold mirror in the other corner (right corner of room when entering). this will help balance both sides.

how about also moving the 2 accent chairs so that they face the fireplace with an end table inbtwn. place the chairs on somewhat of angle.

move the club chair a little closer to the "seating area" (front two legs on area rug).

mantle decorating idea:
one side
- 3 hurricane candle holders (various sizes) filled with decorative colored balls
other side
- 3 glass/crystal taper candle holders (various heights) with candles matching the colors of the decorative balls in hurricanes

looking GREAT!!!

I like the idea of putting the matching chairs at the edge of the rug with their backs to the doorway & the little round table in between. I think that would create more of a conversation area. When I look at the pics again too much of the furniture is hugging the walls.
Another totally different idea to really make that lovely fireplace the focal point would be to float the sofa at the edge of the rug facing the fireplace possibly with a sofa table behind it & place the accent chairs under the window with a table in between & pull that club chair closer

I wish I could do this, but the sofa is too long. I have tried it. That's what I get for buying the sofa before we moved in! If I could do it over again, I would get a smaller one and do just that!

Unfortunately I cant put the hutch caddy corner bc there are light switches on the other wall that I would not be able to access..

I moved some stuff around, but my camera is dead, so I am waiting for it to charge. The chair in the corner actually doesn't block the dining room entry at all.

Stay tuned, and thanks for your help!

Ok that makes sense. Couldn't see that from the pic.

play around with the hutch. doesn't have to be touching the walls, a few inches away to leave access to switches is totally fine.

another option is to place the hutch in the other corner (right corner when entering room) and the tri fold mirror where hutch is now. caddy corner both. with the tri fold mirror in corner where hutch is now, it will reflect light from the windows.

Re: I finally got my pillows and chairs from the Fabric Mill....I need your help with accessories!!

this room is so pretty!!!!!!!

i know you said the hutch couldn't be catty-cornered, but could you turn it on an angle a little, so that it would be like a corner hutch? you could make it so that there would be no access to the back of the hutch for your dd's safety. then i would put the larger armchair near the hutch, where you currently have the red upholstered chair. that would be a nice reading area, or area for a quick drink right as you get through the door after a long day's work Chat Icon

i would move the tri-fold mirror to the opposite side, where you currently have your armchair, since there is an end table on that side already (looks cramped to me)

finally, i would put the upholstered chairs next to each other with the small round table in between, across from the large sofa you have, to make a conversation area!

show us the final arrangement, whatever you decide!

You can buy attachments that attach your peice of furniture to the wall, so it doesn't tip. I know a few of my large items of furn came with this optional attachment.
