I finally took the plunge and bought a dyson....

OMG was I HORRIFIED when I vaccumed my daughters room (its the only room in the house with wall to wall carpet).

The amount of dust in the carpet was INSANE...just goes to show how bad my old vacuum was!!! My cleaning lady was just here on Sat. too.

I really hope James Dyson brings the new DC26 to the USA... We can use a light weight canister vacuum..

I want one too! Which one did you get and how much dust does your house generally have? Do you have any pets?

Re: I finally took the plunge and bought a dyson....

I got the DC17. I have mostly hard wood floors with area rugs. I have a dog, but he doesn't shed. Generally speaking I would say that we dont have much dust, but it's very obvious since we have hardwood floors. We don't take our shoes off in the house so I really though it was more the dirt that I had to worry about - I was wrong!!!!

We all have VERY bad allergies so I figured it was worth the investment. I am scared to think of what I am going to find when I vacuum the couches. Chat Icon

I got the larger ball dyson. You can use the 20% off coupons at BBB for it so I saved $100!

i LOVE my dyson. one of my favorite purchases ever!

question, though- Have you used it on the wood floors? I'm curious how it does with picking up dirt/dust from bare floors (our apartment is w/w carpeting, but the house we're moving into it half wood floors, half carpeting, so i'm interested to see the kind of job it does there).

We just got a new vaccuum too and I couldn't believe what it's been sucking up in the 2 carpets we have. I haven't done the couches yet, but I can't even imagine!Chat Icon And I have severe dust mite allergiesChat Icon

Re: I finally took the plunge and bought a dyson....

Do you have to empty the canister multiple times while vacuuming, or probably just once when you're done? I've been trying to figure out what new vacuum to buy, and one of the things I was reading about some of the bagless ones, like Bissell, was that you have empty the canister multiple times for even just one room.

Also, does it clog frequently? Or need to be cleane dout frequently?

You don't have to replace any of the filters on the Dyson either, do you?

I love my dyson. I was mortified the first time I vacuumed.
