I finished a half ironman!
I can't believe that I can say it--i'm a half ironman! I raced the Musselman Half in Geneva, NY this past Sunday and did it in 6:17, less than my goal time. It was not an easy race, the swim was in extremely choppy water (there was actually a tornado nearby later that afternoon), the bike course was super windy and I was poured on for most of the ride, and the run course was VERY hilly. I just pushed through and used all my energy--I couldn't even walk after I crossed the finish line!
For non-athletes, I was NOT an athlete before this, I hated to run the required mile in HS gym class! I've always worked out but after battling ED's for most of my 20's, I started running 3 years ago when I decided to train for my first half marathon. I did a few more half marathons in 2012 and 2013 and then decided I wanted to do a triathlon. Here I am!
I don't think I'll ever race a full Ironman but I would definitely do a 70.3 Half Ironman again!
