I found a list of what Boars Head products are Nitrate and Preservative Free.
I didn't even know that nitrates were in lunch meat and I bought turkey, BH, to feed to Liam. THen I panicked but, it turns out the one I bought is Nitrate free
Just thought I would share.

I do the same thing, and I don't consider myself a bad mommy  DS doesn't eat it every day, neither do I, so I think it's fine.
Thanks for the list Tricia, I always prefer BH to other deli meats and it's nice to know they are better for you too!

I found it on a chat site somewhere. I was searching all over and someone posted that if you contact BH they will email you list. Then she just posted the list that BH had emailed her.

FYI-Whole Foods has nitrate and antibiotic, hormone free cold cuts. Many by Applegate Farms (Applegate Farms ) they are one of the most respected meat farmers out there.
The cold cuts where I live(in NC) are exactly what BH costs-around 10.99 per lb sometimes down to 8.99. I will get my kids 1 or 2 slices of a couple of different things cut thick(I ask for it sliced to 40) and it gets me a few lunches for about $5-6 total
I also just saw BH's "Natural" line which is nitrate free
