I give you NYC teachers a LOT of credit!
I had no idea how things were in the city and I give you guys SO much credit for doing what you do every day! You definitely don't get paid enough for all you have to deal with! I take my overhead, Smart Board, and copy paper for granted on a daily basis. You guys really do work your tails off!
to you!

Re: I give you NYC teachers a LOT of credit!
Thank you! I hope you didn't take my post a beochy...I truly meant be thankful for what you have! I know there are some NYC schools that have a good amount of things such as schools in better areas and then there are places that won't even give their teachers paper! And it's the teacher's fault when the kids don't do well on tests

Thank you but some of NYC is not like this. The kids brought in so many supplies including copy paper, soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, sharpies, pencils, pens I didn't know what to do with it. Also about 6 classes have smart boards and others are on order so everyone will have one. I also have an overhead, screen, desk maps, pull down maps, chart paper and stand, 2 marker boards, slates for the kids, 8 boxes of science supplies, and many math manipulatives.

ITA. DH's first NYC school had smartboards. They only thing he complains about is the shortage of textbooks due to the overcrowding.
but if you look at it that way, its a shame that some NYC schools are well supplied and others arent

Re: I give you NYC teachers a LOT of credit!
I'm pretty lucky. We have several mobile labtop labs and smart boards (which I am afraid of ) and are well-supplied.
I came from a school where we had to buy our own chalk. And I honestly believe that some people from that school were lining their pockets with money that was supposed to buy supplies. I left for a school in the same neighborhood, getting about the same amount of funding, that had supplies up the wazoo. Too bad the media's so busy bashing us when it should be looking into things like that. There is a staggering amount of fiscal mismanagement.
