I got a ticket for expired inspection.

I didn't even realize it was up. If I get it inspected today, do I still have to pay the ticket?Chat Icon

Re: I got a ticket for expired inspection.

not sure - maybe you can get it done and then goto the police station to show a cop and possibly they will tear up the ticket - they did that with my window tint ticket a few years ago

Re: I got a ticket for expired inspection.

there should be an option somewhere to indicate that you got it done. I had this a few years ago, you just mail in a copy of the inspection receipt and you should be okay!

I was able to get the inspection done and show them proof and I didn't have to pay.

Get it inspected and then call the court.. you may have to appear in court, but just call them and they'll tell you what to do.

I actually brought it down to the precinct- I knew a lady who worked there. She took it and then called me later to let me know I didn't have to pay. I didn't want to chance something happening with the mail.

Re: I got a ticket for expired inspection.

Karissa, were you pulled over, or just parked on the street?

I have a defective light in my car, and to fix it, they have to rip apart the dash and charge me a lot of money. HOWEVER, with the new inspection rules, passed May 05, a car cannot pass inspection if the "check engine soon" light is on.

I've been driving around for nearly 2 months with an expired inspection Chat Icon

To get around the "Check Engine Soon" light....you can pull the fuse to that so it isn't on during the inspection...just a thought

Re: I got a ticket for expired inspection.

I live in Queens and the cops routinely come down our streets to give tickets for expired inspections, since we all park on the street.

tried that already Chat Icon you're a sneaky girl, just like me! Chat Icon The computer that the car gets hooked up to when its being inspected tells you that a fuse is out. Chat Icon

Did you find out why the light is on? Sometime it's something stupid like you didn't tighten the gas cap all the way and air/water (?) got in there. They should be able to tell you when you get an oil change.

Re: I got a ticket for expired inspection.

I just got mine done and relaized it was due in Sept. I never noticed either!

I know a few years back I got a ticket( car was parked, cop must have out it there when I was at work) for un inspected and I had to pay it at court and show proof of inspection.

Yes, they said its defective, HOWEVER - there was a window to have it repaired for free, but because I didn't own the car at that time, that window has passed.

The cam positioning sensor causes the light to go on and stay on. Tested independantly, the sensor is fine. Chat Icon I hate cars.

Chat Icon Thanks, though
