I got my follow up beta results and have options

So- a week and a half after my m/c my beta levels are down to zero.

When I first had my beta done, my progesterone was 12.8. The RN said to me when we spoke on Monday, "Oh, you're on Progesterone, correct?" when I told her no, she asked if anyone contacted me after my initial beta on Friday. I said no. She then says "Oh, well you were supposed to be on progesterone to help maintain the pregnancy being that we like to see progesterone levels above 14".... so needless to say, that has been sitting in the back of my mind since everything happened.

Fast forward to today- I asked the nurse practitioner about this comment and asked if the low progesterone is believed to be the cause of the m/c since that's what the RN lead me to believe. She then goes on to tell me all about luteal phase defect and how I can go in right before my next AF on CD21 for bloodwork.

Has anyone had this bloodwork or this experience? I have never heard of further testing after a m/c unless it's been a recurring issue. Would I just be able to go this cycle on day 21? I started counting my first full day of AF as CD1 so I can try and get back on track with knowing my cycles.

I don't know what to think anymore. Just when I think it was a fluke thing, they've gone and thrown me for a loop that there may be something wrong with me.

Bleh....

ETA: I've already had 1 successful & healthy pregnancy with great progesterone levels. Is LPD something that suddenly develops? I asked the NP, she just talked in circles and said as we age our progesterone levels decrease. I explained that DD is only 10mos old so it isn't like we're talking years between DCs. I had my progesterone levels on CD 21, partly due to an early m/c and also bc it was part of an infertility workup. My doctor said normal levels were at least a 10 for non-medicated cycles and 15 for medicated cycles. Mine was a 10 at the time which made me nervous.

I don't know what to make of the progesterone comments. That would make me Chat Icon too.

Good luck to you.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes- it absolutley can just develop. I developed a LPD after having Madelyn. Even though my periods were still 28 days long, I wasn't actually ovulating until day 18/19/20 with AF on day 28.

I used OTC profesterone cream and got pregnat with Eliza. I may have had the same issues when it came to conceiving TJ. I had 2 early losses. The first one I used progesterone and still m/c. The Other I didn't use progesterone and m/c. My pregnancy with TJ had totally normal levels of everything (and I had Oed on day 14). With his cycle I had used vitamin B6 (started on CD1).

What you just explained was me to a tee. I had one healthy child... conceived one try...then tried for our 2nd...miscarried at 5 and a half weeks.... had a short LP. Charted and temped.... LP was always around 9-11 days long. Went to 4 different RE's...got different opinions. Ended up at the last RE whom I felt just "got it" and understood that it was simply that...and LP defect.... he put me on progesterone suppositories starting a few days after I would ovulate. Sure enough, that did the trick...1st month after seeing him I became pregnant naturally and was already on the suppositiores. I swear the 1st miscarriage was due to my short LP and low progesterone. PS... I was always a 28-30day regular cycle girl...just wasn't ovulating until like day 18.
