I got the weirdest phone call today
As a preface, DH was a big nerd in high school and used to get a lot of awards and stuff so he and my ILs got to know one of our local politicians really well. He's no longer in office, but still active with the Republican party.
Phone rings, Town of Hempstead on Caller ID so I pick up.
Me: Hello?
Caller: Is this Catherine?
Me: Yes?
Caller: Hi, this is Fred Parola. I missed you and Scott when I was going door to door this weekend. How is everything going with you guys? Still together?
Me: Umm, yes, we're fine. (Thinking, OMG, did DH file for divorce and this is how I'm finding out?)
Fred: Oh, good to hear. Mom and Dad are doing well in FL?
Me: (Still kinda freaked out) Yeah, they are good.
Fred: Scott has lapsed from the voting rolls.
Me: This happens every year. I think it has to do with buying from my ILs and they keep removing DH instead of my FIL.
Fred: Yeah, that's what I think is happening too. Well don't worry, I'll make some calls and take care of it.
Me: Ok, thanks. Have a good afternoon.

Ah, it's that time of the year - we get there notices on our front door at least 1x a week as they walk around.

That's pretty wacky I think he sounded waaayyy to personal to be calling you guys by your 1st name, like you were old buddies.

Yeah, that's what weirded me out! It's not like we're friendly beyond the annual "Hey, it's election time, make sure you get out and vote" call.
