I guess Smith Haven Mall was closed?
I drove past (roads were great!) and it looked vacant. I never remember the mall closing for anything when I would work there as a kid. I think I remember they would get fined if they closed.
I called b/c I was curious, and no answer.
Anyone know? I'm curious.

I remember when I worked at the mall they would get fined if they closed too. I don't know about today but I went during the last storm, i think it was the day after xmas. Took me 45 min to get there where it usually takes 10, I was DETERMINED to get out of the house (or just plain stupid  ) Parking lot was PACKED, Yet only about 10 stores (if that) were open! It was the creepiest thing. Yet no one was going home, think everyone was just stir crazy from being in the house for a few days lol.

a friend of mine works at a store there and she had to go to work today, she posted it on her FB page, so maybe just a few stores opened?

I used to work there and they NEVER CLOSED - Tanger however closes often due to snow...

Well they certainly aren't going to force the stores to open, esp .if they live far away, but the malls do their best to be open. The department stores at least never close it seems!

I would beggggggg to close.  I'd call up the district manager and then reason with her and say, "but...it's costing us MORE money to stay open than it is to just close!" I remember mall management would walk around and write down the names of stores that closed. I never understood it at all. I guess they have some sort of agreement or something.

I believe the stores get fined if they don't open (that's what a co-worker told me about Roosevelt Field where her son is a store manager).
