I had a broken neck and didn't know it
So, DH (a chiropractor) always takes x-rays of all of his patients before treating them. But for some reason, he never took any of me, probably because he works on me at home. I rarely come into the office.
I had DH x-ray my back/neck last night.
Welp, I am in BAD, BAD shape. 
When I was 17 I got hit by a car, by my boyfriend at the time's friend. (not purposely, lol). I went to the doctor but never to the hospital and never got x-rayed. I had severe neck pain and couldn't move my head or neck for weeks, but the doc only gave me a neck brace.
Turns out I actually BROKE my neck. You should see it on the x-ray, it is HORRIBLE to look at.
I also have a semi-healed broken tailbone.
Plus, my neck is in such rough shape, it is curved the opposite way that it should be curved, I have disk degeneration, and loads of other issues. My DH was in tears, he said I have the neck of an old lady.
Plus I have scoliosis in my upper back.
I am devastated and so is my husband. He said that I have to have physical therapy, wear some sort of contraption and lots of other stuff because if I don't I am going to have a lot of problems in 20 years. I cannot even believe this.

Wow. I can't believe the doctors never sent you for an xray. I had/have scoliosis and had to wear the brace. I had a spinal fusion to correct it as best as could be done. Feel free to FM if you have questions about the scoliosis or want info on an amazing doctor you can see.

OMG the same thing happened to me! and i HAD xrays done!
when i was 11 or 12 i was in gymnastics and suffered a compression fracture in my vertebrae and the hospital said it was sprained and i didnt even wear a brace!
i thank my lucky stars that everything 'healed' and i am ok today. i found out 4 months later when i still felt sore/stiff and didnt know why. the doc did say i will have difficulty later in life, so i do my best to take care of myself now!
im so sorry you had to find this out, but take it as a blessing in some way that its not worse. lots of

OMG that's awful! Hopefully the physical therapy will improve things better than your DH expects. These things have a way of happening sometimes

PLease do not wait to take care of it. My aunt did, and she now has a severely curved spine that cannot be fixed. I'm sorry if I'm scaring you, but I really hope you get it taken care of and get back to being 100%!

My mom broke her back a number of years ago, maybe 15, and we didn't find out for like 10 years. She always had back problems and then FINALLY an
x- ray showed the problem. My mom actually has to have spinal fusion surgery very soon, but it will be the first time that her scoliosis (sp) will be corrected and she finally won't be in pain. So if there is hope for my mom, there is hope for you!!

Well, you are in good hands. I sometimes think that chiropractic treatments are the only thing that helps me. My chiropractor and an orthopedist have both asked me how I injured my neck but I have no memory of any injury. All I know is that I have bad neck pain at times.
