I hate being sick
I knwo I said this weeks ago but its still true. I have had this bronchitis for like 5 weeks now. I am on my third round of meds.
I have been on the same meds for a week and havent taken any since this morning. All of the sudden just got really bad cramps and stomach discomfort immediately followed by these huge azz hives. WTH can this be?
I am so sick of being tired, and I hate being home alone with DS like this, and DH hasnt answered his phone for the past hour

I would call your Dr's hotline and ask what you should do?
Any benydrl in the house you can take?
I wish I lived closer sweetie so I could come over and help 
Also, di dyou have a chest x-ray to rule out walking pnemonia( sp?)

Could you have mono?
I know when I had mono- and was misdiagnosed and put on antibitotics- I broke out in hives like that...
Supposedly you cant be on meds- while you have mono- or that happens...

Pauline, When I had Mono...my voice sounded JUST like yours , hoarse all the time.

I have asthma, and I have been having a lot of trouble breathing, that is getting a little better. But my cough is getting worse again. I saw a pulmonologist and had a chest x-ray (which was negative), they did bloodwork to rule out whooping cough and a few other things.
I am on my third round of steroids. I was suppose to start lowering them Thursday but because I am not better I am still on the highest dose.
How do they test for mono?
These hives have just thrown me through a loop. Now I dont know if I should take my nightime meds and I am afraid to take Benadryl b/c of all the other meds I am on.
And Donna you are too sweet, but I wouldnt let you near me right now. Although supposedly I am not contagious and even my family who I sleep with are just fine. (knock on wood)

they test with blood test:
Diagnosis: The diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis is based on assessment of signs and symptoms, the presence of atypical lymphocytes and IgM antibodies in the blood, and a positive heterophil reaction with sheep red blood cells (Monospot test).

It takes about a week for them to really get into your system-
I remember when this happened to me- I was in 9th grade- and we had just gotten this dog- and I broke out in hives- since I had been on the meds for a week or so- we totally thought I was allergic to the dog and not the meds(since we had no idea about this mono thing)... so we had to return him...
When the rash was getting worse- I went to the Dr and was immediately tested for mono(which is a blood test)... and sure enough it was! The Dr then explained that thats how the "virus" reacts to meds....
My friend was just recently tested and told the same thing

OK, hives are almost gone and DH finally called (I hate cingular- his phone sssuckks!!)
I think I am going to try and take my meds and get some sleep.

You poor thing! I can't believe you're still sick!!
I hope you're not having trouble breathing & the hives together.
No advice - but I do know that steroids needed to be built up in the body & stepped down. I don't think it would matter that you're at your highest dosage since you haven't finished the full course. (No medical training other than having been on steriods once & having ds on steroids REPEATEDLY )

thanks everyone. I slept well and the hives are gone. I still have my cough but thats no surpise. I just sent DH out with DS so I am going to try and rest today. I think I am just not giving my body the rest it needs to get better.
