I hate fireworks.....

...I know, I know...it's the 4th of July...it's tradition! Call me a cranky old lady!
BUT...Lily goes to sleep every night at 8pm...otherwise she's a mess. And it's 9pm now, and the fireworks have been going off all around our house for at least 30 minutes...and they're not showing any signs of stopping...and I'm paranoid that they're going to wake her up and scare her!

I'm a cranky old lady with ya. I hate them. Luckily, DD seems to be sleeping through them. I hate the smell of fireworks too and I am sitting on my couch choking from the smell. My neighbors have been bragging for the past two weeks about all the fireoworks they have, so I know it won't be over for a while.

im with you, the people on the corner are setting some off and it sounds like its right outside the babys window, shes still awake with just a 1 hour nap all day. FH is outside with her right now watching those stupid things lol

and i know the people across the street who are setting them off have been drinking all day.

i saw them allow a kid who could not have been more than 12 light one himself

yes, i called the police. flame me all you want. it's illegal for a good reason!.

add me to the "cranky old lady" list. I try to get home early on the 4th, every year because I really have no use for the fireworks and noise.

i was hoping someone would post this so i could vent too! i was writing it in my facebook status a few minutes ago but decided i'd come across as a crabby party-pooper! so i erased it.
but seriously, i hate them! i keep worrying too that DD is going to be woken up and frightened as well! just such a PITA and especially those loud bomb-type ones!

I hate them too, mostly b/c my dog hates them though - DD has been sleeping through them...

We love them, went to PA and bought a TON and had a little show in our front yard with a bunch of the neighborhood kids. It was great! We were done by 9:30 though. Our neighbors are lighting off a bunch, but my kids sleep right through it. I can deal with one night a year of noise

I'm right there with you! They started at 9p and it's been non-stop since. It will be a miracle if my DS & DD don't waking up crying

I officially feel old this year because I am annoyed as well! I keep checking the monitor to make they are still sleeping. Not only have they been going off for well over an hour, but the fireworks have been going off for the past couple of nights!

Their is also a ton of them by my place It's literally to the side of our building and I am so scared one of those things is going to fly over here!

Okay, it is 10:40 and they are still going off and my DD (9 weeks) keeps waking up, so anyone out there please stop lighting them off or at least go to some remote place to do it.
My DS is asleep and I do not want him to wake up and I want DD to go/stay asleep.

Ahhh, a fireworks show is different! I wouldn't be a cranky old lady there...because they know what they're doing!!
BUT....neighbors...probably drinking...setting off fireworks....that makes me nervous....and a sleeping baby just makes it worse!

Thankfully, she slept through it all and it seems to be mostly over now!

Ugh - was just dealing with this!! Some of our neighbhors decided to set off MASSIVE fireworks right in front of our house. Needless to say they woke up DD who was petrified!! I was sitting on our front porch when they did this and I was definately the hormonal pregnant cranky lady yelling at them

It's 10:30pm in Chicago and they are still going strong each end of our block. When I was putting the kids to bed they kept saying they were scared bc it was so loud even with all the windows closed. They finally fell asleep after 45 mins and have been sleeping through it. It's been like this for the last 3 nights.

I really don't get people's appeal to do fireworks on their own, not only is it dangerous and it's illegal (at least in IL). The city does a big show near Lake Michigan every year, even though it gets crowded downtown you can see the show from most of the beaches north and south of downtown. I just don't get why people can't go to the one done by the city.

Hate them, hate them, hate them.

My poor cat was a wreck Thankfully DS slept through them. I cranked the AC, ceiling fan and white noise machine.

They made me jumpy, not fun when you are 9 months preggo There is a stupid blick party across the street every 4th of July and between the DJ and fireworks, it puts everyone in a bad mood. We don't know anyone on the street so we don't even get to go and now there are firework wrappers all over OUR street!

The thing is I am a history teacher and LOVE the ideas behind 4th of July and am happy to have a low key bbq with friends and family.

I know!!! I've always loved them and suddenly this year (DH is 4 months) I find them obnoxious. DH kindly pointed out we used to be the obnoxious people setting them off. Well, that was only one bbq... Luckily James was only woken by them once last night. But I was nervous the whole night!!
