that is what I have been doing ALL day.
Long story short - I find out that the anesthesiologist (sp) that did my emergency C-section is not in my insurance plan - therefore I need to pay $1400.00 to them (which is partly discounted - but still)
So with arguing with them - I find out that they are the only ones associated with the hospital I was in - so it wasn't like I could say I want someone in my plan - I had to have them
It is not fair - that if they are the only ones associated with that hospital - then they should take ALL plans
And NO ONE wants to help me get this resolved

OMG...Marcie, I had the same problem. The bill was 3000! We called our local 3 (dh is an electrician) and they said they have a form that we need to fill out...they sent us a check for 3000 and now we have to write a check to them and send it. SOoooooooo annoying@

You are completely justified in your dispute, not only because they are the only ones in the hospital but because they were attending you during a surgery, and an emergency surgery as well.
I had a similar problem some years ago and successfully disputed a for an anesthesiologist who wasn't part of my insurance plan.

call the insurance company, I work in health insurance and we overturn almost all anesthesia bills for members to pay them IN FULL for them. The only time we dont is if we are told not to by the employer( ex. Suffolk county doesnt want us making exceptions for their employees) .....
You tell the insurance you had no choice, and you are being "balance billed". 99.9% of the time they will pay it in full.
Whenever you get ANY bills....call your insurance and make sure its right!

Call your insurance I know with mine if you have no choise of who takes care of you, then they pay a certain percentage, less any deducitbles, but it would still help.
I had bills totaling 3500 after my c-section, my boys being in the NICU, a heart procedure and a emergency surgery and a PICU stay, so I know how frustrating it can be. I thought I would have to pay a $100 copay fro each, boy was I wrong, LOL!!!

This is unbelieveable. How could the only anesthesiologist group at the hospital not accept ALL plans. That's BS!!! I would definitely keep fighting. Good Luck

By biggest obstacle is that my DH is in the union - and they say there is nothing that they can do.
Everything goes through the union - they are the middle men. I have to start asking for supervisors and managers
Of both the doctors offive and the union. I don't think I can call the insurance company themselves

Also what ever balance you have to pay you can ask for a discount if you pay in full, I got a 20% discount on all my bills this way.
