I Hate Ins. Companies.
I just had to say that. We're having to pay out of pocket for Miranda's Prilosec Susp now because the ins. company doesn't want to pay for it so now in all my spare time I have to write and appeals letter, mail it in and wait 30 days to see if they'll change their mind and cover it. What a load of bull. If she didn't need it why would the doctor prescribe it. I'm a pharmacist and being on the other side of this nightmare stinks! I feel even more for all my patients who have had to go through this crap.

How stressful. Like you'd be medicating a baby if you didn't need to. Good luck with your appeal!

I hate insurance companies too and I always liked mine up until now. I guess you are fine with them until you actually need to start using them for things.
They haven't even processed Emily's insurance yet -- adding her on -- so I better not start getting HUGE bills! She was supposed to be added on within 30 days of birth and I did my part now they need to do thiers!

Re: I Hate Ins. Companies.
I had to argue with my insurance co when my son was born also. They were actually trying to tell me that he didn't need to be on Oxygen when I brought him home from the NICU. When I asked the lady on the phone why she said that...she told me because he is just under 5lbs and should be able to breathe on his own. So I asked then why would the NICU Dr's and his pediatrician think that he needs it? She said that alot of times Dr.'s order things that aren't necessary. So I asked her what type of medical training she has to make that assumption....she told me that her education was none of my business...so I told her that until MD is attached at the end of her name she has no business telling people what type of medical needs they have. Then I told her that my son can not breathe on his own...and if I unhooked the Oxygen he may die...or suffer brain damage from loss of Oxygen...and since those are chances that I am not willing to take based on the advise of an ill informed non medical person...she can shove the insurance bill up her a$$!!!
3 days later I received a letter that all of James' Oxygen equipment would be covered.
so my point is....fight fight fight...insurance co's are in it for the $$$...they are not concerned with a patient's best care.
