I Hate People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE

First off, I know I haven't yet said hi etc and introduced myself to the board - my sincere apologies. So for the record, I'm 16 weeks and just started telling people when I could no longer hide it based only on paranoia that I would tell the world and then catastrophe would happen.

For the I hate people part . . .

I just went from my office to the kitchen to wash off utensils from lunch. As I got to the kitchen entrance a FEMALE coworker (mother of 3) came out and said "hi fatty" to me. I was in such a state of shock, and she was gone so quick I didn't even respond. What is with people???

This comes on the heels of Saturday, while at a semi-family function my aunt put her hands on my stomach without asking (which I do NOT like at all). So, I said (in front of my mother) . . . "why is it that people think pregnancy is a license to just touch people and put your hands on them without asking?? I mean really, what makes people think it is a-ok to just commment on a PG woman's appearance and just touch or do whatever they want. I swear the next person who touches me is going to get blasted." To which my mother says: "how come you're wearing that? You looked so cute the other day and now you're just wearing that!" Um, hello didn't I just go off about making comments about a PG woman's appearance????

Vent over. I am now going to that woman's office to tell her to never say that to me again!

UPDATE:
So, I did indeed go to her office to tell her how offended I was. She apologized and said she didn't mean it that way, and promised not to say anything like that again.

Well, that was a hour or so ago when I first posted. She was on her way out of work at that time. She just called me on the phone to apologize again, and say that she felt horrible, she didn't mean to hurt my feelings, she didn't mean fat at all, she just meant I looked cute now that I'm not trying to hide it and I'm wearing maternity clothes. She also said about 6 times I'm not fat, I'm pregnant and kept apologizing over and over.

I'm still slightly upset over the comment, but I feel really good that I didn't just let her get away with it!

Well congrats and welcome.

As for people / comments you arent alone. It has happened to pretty much all of us. I guess it is something people are just cluless about. Dont stress it. You are growing a beautiful baby inside you and your body will change. I am 18 weeks and hear the comments only get worse.

I totally feel for you. I got the same greeting from my FIL and I feel the same way about touching.

Just let your feelings be known, I find it's the only way to feel any better.

I swear this is the reason I think homes for wedded pregnant mothers should start popping up.

Everyone can sit around all day, telliing each other how fabulous they look.

Screw them all! They're jealous of that pregnancy glow & great hair you have!

By the way....Kmart sells a shirt that says...KEEP THE HANDS OFF THE BELLY. Maybe you can get that for the next family function to be a little more clear to the clueless people.

honestly, the hand thing does not bother me. family and co-workers do it to me and i'm ok with it. however, call me fatty and you'll get a good kick in the shins. that is so innapropriate. why do people think its okay to comment on our weight now? can i walk around telling others "wow, you're really putting it on, huh?" and "how much have you gained?"

I would have screamed. How rude! The belly thing really doesn't bother me unless it's a complete stranger in which case I will feel skeved.

What is it w/ some people...what nerve!! I would have went off on her...totally inappropriate. The comment from your mom is just mom being mom...but I know how much it must bother you....so many people have said how nice I'm carrying & how little I am (belly wise) & nearly everytime we see my dad he makes comments like, "that's not peanut---something we call baby---its more like a watermelon" or "are you sure you're not carrying twins"....it hurts alot mainly b/c it IS my dad & not a stranger. People don't think

The tummy thing doesn't really bother me, but people think they just have a license to touch...so get used to it or you'll need to come back w/ a comeback line...(I know a few were posted a while back).
