I hate people who cancel at the last minute!- UPDATED BELOW, please check
I'm so ****** off right now. My "friend" just emailed me that she and her DH can't come to Luca's b-day party because they're still moving?! Ummm, nice to let me know 2 days in advance. And my best friend called to tell me that her DH can olny stay for a little while. *** is wrong with people? This party is not at my house, and there's nothing worse than paying for empty seats. I'm so aggravated!

I hear you! One of my good friends (who is a total flake unfortunately) was supposed to come out from the city tomorrow to visit me and DD. I kept calling her today and she finally called me back to say she isn't coming. She always gets my hopes up and then lets me down. I hate people who do that!!

Take a deep breath and remember that the day is about Luca. I'm sure it's frustrating but don't let it cast a shadow on your special day!

 This happened to us as well last week at DD's christening. We ended up paying for 4 people & 2 kids that backed out very last minute. It's frustrating

Ok, well now I don't know how to handle this. After she emailed me that they weren't coming, I simply emailed her back that I uderstand they have a lot going on, but it would have been nice to let me know earlier since I already gave the restaurant the final headcount and the party's in two days. She then proceeds to tell me that she didn't realize it was at a restaurant (BS!) and they will come by for a little while. Well how the heck am I supposed to resond to that. One the one hand, I don't want to pay for empty chairs, but on the other hand, if it wasn't important enough for your to be there, then I certainly don't want to force you. You know what I mean?

Honestly, I think she gave you the right answer. She realized that you were paying for her to be there. yes, she should have initially said yes but imagine if she still said no after you said you were paying for empty chairs. I guess at this point dont let it bother you too much... they will be there, you will enjoy the day bc its your sons B-day and this small thing will not even be your main focus.
