I hate UHC!
So, I think I'm going to go ahead with another IVF cycle starting this month. I called my nurse and she said, depending on AF, I should be able to get into the next series! Otherwise, I'll have to wait until January. She was going to put my info through the billing office.
The billing office called me today and UHC told them that I maxed out my benefits!!!! WHAT??? I have $10,000 and I only did 1 cycle!!!!! She said that UHC has been giving them a lot of problems lately and it's very possible that they charged everything, every sono, bloodwork, meds, to my lifetime!!!!! She told me to call them too and see what happens.
So, now I'm so upset I leave my desk and go to the parking lot to my car to make the calls b/c I have NO privacy here. The first person I spoke to couldn't give me any informtion. She had to run the request through another dept and they would call me or send me a letter within 7-10 days!!!! I gave her my info and hung up and tried calling again. I must have gotten a completely different department b/c the next woman gives me the info. First she tells me that I've used over $11,000!!!! I ask her how can that be?? It's just one cycle. Nothing too fancy. Out of pocket it wouldn't have been much more than that!! So, she goes over the charges with me and says "oh, I guess I made a mistake b/c it doesn't look like nearly that much. Turns out I only used $4,244.18. WOW. What a difference!!! She is sending me the information confirming this but it might take 15 days!!!! I called LI-IVF and they said they need clearance before I start my pills!!!! If AF comes on time, I am to start my pills on the 15th! If I don't get this letter in time, I may miss the cycle! I'm very relieved but still upset. She wouldn't e-mail or fax it to me. LI-IVF said to call back in a week if I haven't gotten it yet.
So, when I calm down and go back to my desk, I go on UHC's website and pull up all my claims for the year. Even if you combine every dr I've been to, they've only paid out $4,379.30!!! So, where the heck did they get that I maxed out??? All of the expensive meds for this cycle were donated so that can't be it. They only paid for the estrogen patches, PIO and the pills!!! I just pray that I get this letter in time and that everything is ok.

OMG I would have cried....must have made you sooo anxious!!! I'm so glad you straightened things out and I hope the letter comes in time.
I understand they have to get clearance but cant they make an exception for you so you dont miss your chance this cycle? Maybe you can print out all the claim info you got off the computer and bring it to them as proof that you didnt max out your benefits. And give them the reps name at UHC that you spoke to so they can call her to verify.
Yep, I almost did and still may.
I'm going to talk to the nurse and she may be able to put it through for me. I mean, it's just BCP's. I'm not asking to start the stims.
I told the billing office that I had the name of the rep and the reference number and UHC said they could call and get the same info I was just given but, the billing office wants it all in writing. I understand that but still. I printed out everything from the website showing what they've paid year to date. I was going to call her and tell her all of this but she was leaving at 3 so, I was too late.
