I have a Children's (not infant) Tylenol question...
If Ava meets the weight requirement (it's 24-35 lbs., she's 28lbs.), can I give her the Children's Tylenol, even though she's not 2 yet? I have no infant's tylenol left, and I really don't want to have to take her out to the store tonight, but man she needs it.

personally, I would because on the infant one, it says to use their weight first, if you know it
if not, use their age. I do not see the big deal, hope she feels better soon

Ok, thanks girls. Honestly, my gut is telling me it's fine, and I left a message for my ped., but she's going to bed now. I'm just going to give it to her.

Re: I have a Children's (not infant) Tylenol question...
its fine. Its the same drug, I think the infants is just a bit more concentrated so you dont have to give them the same volume.
If you want to be really obsessive about it, make sure that the mg in the amount you would give of the infant dose = the total mg in the childs dose.
But my ped has always told me to go by weight not age.

Re: I have a Children's (not infant) Tylenol question...
My son was 18 months and about 27 lbs, that's when the ped told us to switch to 1 tsp of Children's Tylenol (same dosage for Children's Motrin). They said it was totally weight-based.

I've given DD 3/4-1 tsp of Childrens because that is what I had on hand for my son and she did fine.

Re: I have a Children's (not infant) Tylenol question...
We were in your boat one night where one bottle of Children's that we bought by accident was all we had in the house so I used it and went by weight and honestly we've been using it ever since b/c it's so much easier b/c it lasts forever since it's a big bottle. With the infant motrin I was buying it constantly b/c with the teething we were going through a bottle every week or two
