Re: I have a DR appt on Saturday

Just have all your facts with you: charts if you've been charting, history of attempts and AF, etc.

I found that to be really helpful because the doctor had lots of questions for me. Once I told him all my details, he helped out with the next steps.

Good luck!!!

Aw, I'm sorry it's been 1 year for you. I really don't know what questions you should ask. I havent made it to the 1 yr mark yet. Maybe DebG and all her wisdom can help?? Or Michelle (Redstar)??? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Jen - I am not sure of any questions that you can ask, but wanted to wish you lots of luck.

Will your DH be going with you as well, they might want to ask him some questions too.

Jen ~~ Best of luck with the apt. Maybe your dr. can give you some help to move things along -- 1 year is usually when they start getting more agressive --- lots of luck and let us know how it goes!!

Re: I have a DR appt on Saturday

Well one year...is a long time ....trust me I know it's been 18 months for me. Unfortunately, ob/gyn's aren't that much help when you are ttc. However, I can give you some questions to ask him or some tests he can do. It's recommended you see an Re after a year of ttc. The reason why Re's are better, is because they can monitor you. They can see how your follicules are growing, how thick your uterine lining is etc. They also test for more things.

First off, do you know when you are ovulating ? That's a very important thing to have an idea about because, that will determine a lot. I would definitely get a full physical done. Bloodwork should include all of the following glucose, tsh, t3, t4, prolactin, fsh on day 3, estradoil day 3, and progesterone 7 dpo tested. Sometimes ob/gyn's just hand out clomid when a person has trouble ttc. Make sure you do accurate testing first. In fact, knowing which days to even take the clomid comes from the 'tests'. Dh, should also go for a S/A that's essential.

Re: I have a DR appt on Saturday

Hi Jen,

If you need any further help, definitely forum mail me. There are some things you should know about yourself before you go to the doctor so you can help steer your healthcare. Do you ovulate ? How long are your cycles ? Do you chart ? Do you use opks? How is your cervical mucus? etc etc etc

Good luck Jen!

I think it's great that you're taking these steps.

Much baby dust to you!

Redstar gave some great guidelines/advice, it really does help to be prepared.
