I have a "how much" Q re: End of Year Teacher Gifts

I know I know - what you can afford.
But my son is finishing up Kindergarten so I'm new to this.
I have been giving out daycare gifts for years, to teachers, assistants, assistants of the assistants ......so to be honest, the gifts got diluted b/c I couldn't spend $2k on end of year gifts!

But for my older son with one teacher, and one assistant .........what's the norm?

In my daughters school the PTA recommends collection of $5 per student for end of the year gift.

Re: I have a "how much" Q re: End of Year Teacher Gifts

We gave I think $25 at the beginning of the school year which I assume the Class Moms have stretched ........but they have never specifically told us they got the teacher(s) anything - so I gave her a $25 GC for the holidays, and was planning on something for her for year end ........just not sure what.

I would say the average is between $10 and $25. My daughter is a difficult one : ) so I spend a little more but that is the exception rather than the norm.

Re: I have a "how much" Q re: End of Year Teacher Gifts

My older son is in third grade and they collected $15 per kid. Had they not, I probably would have done a $25 gift card, which is what I did, plus a candle at the holidays.
My younger ds is in preschool, and they collected $50 per kid for the teacher and assistants. I also gave each of his two therapists $25. It was the same at Christmas.

$20 Gc to each teacher and specialist for each kid. To target.

I would say it depends on the area/district. In ours we do teacher collection (only allowed to ask for $5 but, most parents give about $10). Then, MANY do gifts on their own and I would say the average for the classroom teacher is $50.

I contribute to the class gift (usually $5 is requested, but I give $20.)

And I also give a $50 GC to each teacher and $25 to any assistants. But I would say I'm not the norm. Most of the moms I know just contribute to the class gift or pick up a little something for the teacher(s).

Plus $20 to each bus driver. (But again, I don't think I'm the norm. I think my neighbor does $10 for each driver.)

Re: I have a "how much" Q re: End of Year Teacher Gifts

I give all of the daycare and before / after crew $25 each GCs

I ended up buying my older son's K teacher a bunch of Islander stuff b/c she's a fan, and her son plays hockey, like mine, so that was her 'thing' with my son this year. He's excited to give it to her
He wanted to get the assistant flowers, so I'll do that and a GC for $20

I assume the class is doing a gift, with the money we donated at the beginning of the year, but I honestly don't know - so I'm doing it myself too.

the bus driver can go scratch b/c he was a miserable SOB to my son and all of the kids all year ......just an over all grumpy old man

Typically as a teacher I get $25 gift cards for the end of the year for parents that give EOY gifts. My para (assistant) usually gets $10-15.
