I have a POWER CHEWER PUP! Doesn anyone else have one?

BELIEVE IT OR NOT THIS CUTE LIL GUY IS A POWER CHEWER
<------------------------------------

Help my pupster is a power chewer
any suggestions??
Here is what he has gone through

The black extreme kong...through it in 1 hour!
I even complained to kong that i was hoping for it to last 2 days not an hour. THey sent me 20 dollars in coupons!!! I can buy him his frisbee from kng which surprisingly he doesnt chew

Nylabone Rhino black rubber bone the largest fsze went through it in 10 minutes! I brought it right back to petsmart to return

He does have nylabones but the vet said it will wear down his teeth and in a few years his teeth will deteriorate

He did have rawhide but gets VERY possessive to the point that he may hurt someone...so they are out. I am willing to try them again but like i said VERY POSSESSIVE!

Rope Toys are shredded and eaten and thank god so far has come out the other end lol

My vet said greenies have been reformulated and are safe but they are $$ and I think it will last him like 15 minutes each

What do you give your powerchewing dog????

I am at a loss I want him to have toys. He hasn't destroyed anything in the house YET.....I need to find my guy something!

Daisy is a power chewer as well.

Our vet actually recommended the nylabone's for her. It's the safest thing for her he said and the pieces are digestible.

We bought the following for her and it's worked well for us.

Dental Chews

Super Tuf Chews

Wiggly Ball - Daisy could play w/this for hours as it makes noise and amuses her

Nylaknot - this has lasted us a while and we only had to replace it recently - lasted about 6 -9 months

Also, is your dog teething, or is that stage over? If he is teething, the chewing will subside after a few months once their new adult teeth come in.

If the dog chews items that he shouldn't, I'd recommend taking an empty coffee tin, fill it 1/4 way with marbles and when he does something he shouldn't, state NO firmly and shake the can. The dog will soon learn what is acceptable and not.

Mine was a big chewer when she was little. She is 2 years now and has stopped chewing and eating all toys given maybe a year ago. We bought the Nylabone type when we had the issue. I think that taught her to chew less becuase it wasn't fun for her. It took a chore for her to try and finish it and sometimes she gave up. Maybe try the Nylabones and see what happens. You don't necessarily have to give her the Nylabones for life. You can try with one and see what happens if not I would ask the vet again or even maybe consider classes. Good luck!! Chat Icon
