I have a problem--Anniversary related
I randomly logged on to LIW and saw this
JXNOscar You've been married: 331 Days 0 Hours 2 Minutes 1 Seconds
I got a call from the Carlyle on the Green, inviting us to dinner on them the saturday night (day before) our anniversary. We live in NYC. Should I drive home or stay at a hotel?
Also, what should I give my DH for our anniversary? A big big gift or something small? No clue!

Aw, that is so nice. I'd stay on the Island...unless you mind driving back! As for the gift, for the first one, we did kind of go all out. Since then, just a quiet dinner. The first one is a little milestone. Maybe get him some nice cufflinks or a new wallet; something you know he'll love.....

Re: I have a problem--Anniversary related
Congratulations! I agree with making the first anniversary a special one. DH and I went into the city had a romantic dinner and saw a show. We also got our ketubah framed. The tickets and the framing were our paper gifts to one another.
This year DS was not even a month old when it was our second anniversary. Our families came out to our house and had chinese food with us. It was really special in a different kind of way. Our DS was our present to one another this year. Other than that, DH got me long stemmed roses.

Re: I have a problem--Anniversary related
hey dude.
I got DH a print of one of his fav works of art (a Lichtenstein) we just recently had it framed and are reworking our entire living room to give it a proper home
my sweetie didn't get me a present. according to him, HE is my present. c'est la vie!
ETA: if you stay at a hotel, you can make THAT your gift...a night at a hotel. slink your hott self into a sexy outfit, slip the PAID bill inside his card (1st anni gifts are paper..) and he can pay for the room service in the morning

Re: I have a problem--Anniversary related
For my first anniversary, I got DH a framed print of a New Yorker cover from the date of our wedding anniversary (except it was from 1933 and not 2006!). It's actually a picture of a couple going into their first home, so it was very fitting and slightly sentimental - which is funny because I am soooooooooo not sentimental!

Re: I have a problem--Anniversary related
I wish I had stayed in a hotel the night of our anniversary dinner. We went to our dinner at Westbury Manor, then saw the fireworks at Eisenhower Park. Other than exchange gifts, we really didn't do anything special for our day.
