I have a question - why do people always say they wouldn't want DC to play with unvaccinated kids?
My DC has gotten shots but, I have a friend whose DC has not gotten any (same age) and I always hear this comment but, I don't understand it - I mean shouldn't she be the one that is worried? If he has all his shots why should it matter if she gets one of these diseases because of not being vaccinated if he is?
I know I must be missing something but I am always

Yeah I don't get it either but whatever. My DD is vaccinated but was really delayed compared to her friends. None of my friends cared. The only time I could see caring is having an unvaccinated child around a newborn.

Re: I have a question - why do people always say they wouldn't want DC to play with unvaccinated kids?
Well I guess it's because even if your child is vaccinated, there is still a small risk they can contract the disease they were vaccinated for. Your unvaccinated kid has a 100% chance of catching it, thus passing it along to the already vaccinated kid and him/her possibly getting the disease. Yes the risk is small, but it's still a risk.
If everyone vaccinated, there would be nothing to worry about because there would be no diseases passed around.

I have never heard anyone say that. Did someone on here say it or someone you know?

BUT....not everyone is immune after the shots...and we have foreigners coming here not vaccinated, its not necessarily the unvaccinated child. my brother got whopping cough from his pediatrician... This is a bad subject---it always turns ugly!

for sure... I believe in spacing but I vaccinate. but Ii think people forget adults do not keep up with them.,..and the people we let in should have to show papers. but there is still the small amount of people not immune. I know three,..me being one of them... for soome reason no matter how many times Ii get a MMR it does not take..weird huh?

Re: I have a question - why do people always say they wouldn't want DC to play with unvaccinated kids?
I was vaccinated for Chicken pox..I had it TWICE
I had Pertussis as a child...Bad vaccine batch
And Adults are suppossed to have 2 MMR boosters. I can tell everyone I know of maybe 2-3 people who have actually gotten that done.
Diseases cannot be eradicated ever.
But I think vaccinating helps as much as we "can".

Re: I have a question - why do people always say they wouldn't want DC to play with unvaccinated kids?
I agree - I was in Vermont, where lots of kids weren't vaccinated (lots of kids with autism, that is ) and they went to schools with vaccinated kids and everyone came home at the end of the day healthy....

not only I...but two others Ii know of their body rejects the MMR, I think we need to take that into consideration. Soome people are carriers and some are not! ex: Im sure the ped my bro got whopping cough from was vaccinated,,hes not like that.. but people assume he was not.
