I have a quick question that I'm sure I've asked already
I'm going to give OPK's one more time. I'm using the CB digital ones. What time does everyone suggest I do them? I may do it 2 times a day also.
For this co-culture thing I have to call them back when I get LH surge, but because I have not been getting a surge lately on these kits I will have to do b/w on CD14. But, if I can get the surge and get the info 2 days earlier I'd be better off with the scheduling. And I was worried that I was not O'ing but my temps confirmed it. And then when I was at the office consultation they did a sono which also confirmed that I did O. So, that is good, I'm just missing it.
Thanks for all your advice in advance.

Re: I have a quick question that I'm sure I've asked already
I've read that the surge usually happens in the morning, so afternoon is the best time to catch it on an OPK.

I POAS the other day at 3am. There was my smiley. I don't know if the time of day really matters.

Re: I have a quick question that I'm sure I've asked already
the best time of day to test with an OPK is between noon and 8:00 pm.
the 'surge' you are testing for increases as you are awake, during the day. The later you test, the more accurate the results.
you should also hold for 4 hours and drink as little as possible during this time.
sorry for crashing, i have been lurking on this board for awhile now...and finally had something i could share that may help...

Thanks, and you should post more often.
The no drinking thing for 4 hours will be hard. I think I have a glass of water in my hands every 5 minutes (and could be another reason why they always come out wrong...Hmmmm). I can do it though....LOL.

thank you - i am truly happy that I could help.
you can drink something - i always find it hard to NOT - but remember the more you drink - the more diluted the hormone becomes...

Beth Ann - Honestly, I never held it in for 4 hours, the longest I would go would be 2 hours, but usually it was a little less than that and I never had a problem with the OPK.

Re: I have a quick question that I'm sure I've asked already
I was told to test when I woke up in the morning and then again at 3pm with a 2hr hold. (There is no way I could hold for 4hrs so the dr. said 2 hrs. was perfectly sufficient!) Drink as little as possible (or nothing) during the 2 hr. hold. One more thing -- the RE that I am seeing also likes the digital OPK's with the smiley faces the best. He claims those are more accurate... (Not sure if that's true but that is what I have been told to do.) Hope this helps you! GL!!

I find it so interesting how things differ from RE to RE. My RE has specific instructions NOT to test in the morning, but to test between 2:00pm and 8:00 pm. I was also advised not to use the digitals, but to use the line tests.

geez, I don't even remember since I haven't used an OPK since December. I'm fairly certain though it was a First Response Test.
