I have an IVF plan
I'm so excited. Just got off of the phone w/ one of the nurses, who I've been dealing w/ the whole time since day 1 of calling for an appointment (b/c of the grant). She is going to be my nurse- and I'm SO happy about that!!! She said everything looks good and as of now it looks like my ER will be around 7/14 & ET will be around 7/17. She said I'm going to be on menopur- which I've never taken, but she said it's easy. Yeah!!!! So next week once AF arrives, I go in for bloodwork, a blood pressure check, to get my BCP prescription, and make my water sono appointment as well as get our prescription for antibiotics for the water sono for both Dh and I. I can't believe this is all happening!!! ETA: She also said I'll be adding Ganirelix to my cycle while I'm on my stims I think. What type of med is this? She said it's to make sure I don't ovulate early. Also, is this taken in place of lupron? I haven't heard it mentioned in my protocol- though I thought originally they said it would be...

Re: I have an IVF plan
I was on the same protocol. Menapur is the stim med and ganerelix come in a prefilled syringe to prevent ovulation once you start progressing. You do not use lupron with this cycle.

Re: I have an IVF plan
I used ganirelix this cycle too. I actually liked it better because its less needles. You do lupron the whole time you are stimming where ganirelix is introduced towards the end. I think I only did it for 4 nights.
SO excited for you. In about 6 weeks you'll be in your 2ww, and those 6 wks will go by fast. Especially once you start stimming.

I used Ganerelix too - I only needed it for 2 nights...keeps you from ovulating too soon.

Re: I have an IVF plan
This was my exact protocol. I hope that doesn't scare you. I did a lot of reading on it and it seems to be pretty successful. I know Dr. K likes this protocol a lot.

Re: I have an IVF plan
Thank you so much everyone.
So Garinelex is an injectable also? I wasn't sure. I think she said it would be introduced 5 or 6 days into my stims... the other nurse (the head nurse) said that I definitely wouldn't stim for the full 10 days b/t having PCOS and being a high risk candidate for OHSS. I'm so relieved. I just wanted a plan... so now i just relax and plan for this. I am so relieved to just know what's happening around when.

YAY!! I'm so excited for you
Ganirelix prevents ovulation. It's in a prefilled syringe and is sub-q (I did mine in the belly). For me, it burned a little bit but nothing too bad. I think I started mine around day 6 of stims (stimmed for a total of 9 I think?) so I had 3 shots of it. Keep us posted

Re: I have an IVF plan
what everyone said about the ganirelix is right. The only thing I would add is not to make any plans based on those dates, things can change very easily.

Thanks! I was thinking that. I'm supposed to go to a concert on 7/18... we already have the tickets and I'm trying to figure out what I should do. I mentioned it to the nurse but she told me to plan on going... but if I do have a lot of eggs, do you think I'd be too crampy/crummy feeling to go if it's w/in a few days of that date? Also the other nurse told me I def. won't stim for the full 10 days... so I'm just going to try to keep the couple of weeks around that time frame as free as I can. Thank you again!

ITA! My first IVF, I went 3 days longer from what we expected, my 2nd, I went 2 days shorter, so you never know.
I felt fine the next day, but I definately wouldn't over do it.
Also, while my RE doesn't say bedrest, or stay off your feet after ET, I did just that for the next 2 days after ET. I stayed off my feet as much as possible.
Good luck! It will be here before you know it!
