I have another vent about police today. - Kinda long
Driving down the LIE the week gas prices went to $3.50 a gallon, I look in my mirror and there is a cop FLYING up behind me. Gets right on my a$$ until I move over for him. I was doing about 65. This cop was doing about 80. With the taxpayer paying for that gas he is BURNING wouldn't you think he would slow down?
Sunday I was at the LI Game Farm and I was coming home. I was doing 35 in a 30 when I look in my mirror and there is a cop behind me. I mean RIGHT behind me. Swirving in and out of the lane to see if he could pass me on a double yellow. I continue to do 35 when he throws his lights on and basically bullies me off the road (no shoulder mind you), passes me, turns his lights off and speeds ahead to get stopped at a stop light... when the light is red he threw his lights on again and blew the light then turned off the lights.
Can someone pleasssse tell me why cops don't lead by example? Is it because they can, do they feel they are "above the law". I need a reason!! PLEASE!

how do you know neither of them were going to a call? If they were responding to a burglary in progress they only use lights when necessary and they try by all means to not use the siren.

Exactly! That would have been my first thought. Lights and sirens are used when people don't get out of the way.

Exactly! That would have been my first thought. Lights and sirens are used when people don't get out of the way.
Ok, I can understand not using lights and sirens BUT if they are going to a call and there is someone in front of them wouldnt they put the lights on immediately to get the person to move over not follow them for about 2 miles THEN throw on the lights if its such a big deal???
ETA: How are people supposed to know to move if the cop is just right up their A$$ with no lights/sirens?

It very well could be, I just tend to give cops the benefit of the doubt....might have something to do with the fact that I come from a family of cops.

Maybe it's just me, but if a cop is right on my butt, with or without lights, I always assume there is a reason for it and pull to the side. Either he is responding or waiting to pull me over. In that case, I save him time by doing it myself. 
I'm sure I think that way because I also grew up with a lot of cops around and then married one.

I see this all the time...a cop will ride my @ss..throw on his lights to go through a red light..and then pull into the firehouse parking lot and park... it makes me so mad... Mainly because he is presenting danger on the road..just cuz he's impatient..
Dont get me wrong..there are plenty of cops that are out there doing the right thing...and a brave thing at that..
But those who drive like @ssholes on the rd.. really make me wanna scream!

The cops put their life on the line every day to protect our azz.
I'll deal with them deciding to put their lights on to go through a light or to get ahead of other drivers.

Yes I feel the same way as you!!!
When the cop was behind me on the road by the Game Farm there was no shoulder, no place for me to pull myself and 3 small children off safely without being on someones lawn or in bushes. I didnt really have a choice. He would have had to cross the double yellow to get around me no matter what.
