I have BIL's engagement party next weekend in the city...what do I wear?

UGH. Can't believe I have to go shopping for one night. But it is BIL's engagement party at Del Posto in the city. MIL is wearing a cocktail dress, but if I can't find a dress I think I am going to look for a fancy top to go with a nice pair of black pants I have...is this ok or should I really wear a dress? DH will be the Best Man at this wedding, but I'm going to be 34 weeks preggers at this engagement party and I can't imagine finding any dress that is going to look cute at this point in my pregnancy..

I would think that pants and a dressy top would be fine for an engagement party at 34 weeks.

Nordstroms has a lot of maternity dresses and I have seen several dresses in the motherhood store.

I think it would depend on the pants and/or top that you were able to find.... if it were dressy enough I think it could work.....

I think dressy blacks pants with a dressy top is perfect, you can jazz it up with nice accessories (earrings, necklace).

A dressy top with pants are fine. Just dress it up with accessories, jewerly, hair and make-up and purse.

I think pants dressed up with a nice top, strappy sandal, jewelry is fine for an engagement party - especially a sit down thing.
