I have issues.... LONG but weird

Before you continue to read this post.. just realize... I have issues..

Despite the advice from a very wise woman on this board.. I tested like a looney toon this weekend...

So here's the scoop. Tested on Friday and I COULD HAVE SWORN I saw a very ( I mean VERY) faint line.. Of course no one else saw it and told me I was nutso.. So I did what any logical person would do and I took the test apart. On the side of the little thick strip where the line shows up and where I swore I saw a little bit of the lightest pink nature ever made there were two dark pink pin sized dots on either side of the strip. They didn't form a line and connect.. but weird right???
So later on that day I took another test to see what I would see.. Totally negative.. So I took that test apart and there were no pink dots.. but that would make sense because it was not FMU.. less hormones.. So then on saturday morning I took another test.. thought I saw a line again... but DH couldn't for the life of him see what I was talking about.. So I walked away depressed and went back to sleep. 3 hours later (I KNOW you aren't supposed to read a test after the 10 minute period... I know) DH is freaking out because there is a light tan line clear as day on the stick!! So I take another test.. nothing...

So I decide this is nuts.. no testing today.. I made it all day but I have felt SOOO SICK.. dizzy and naseous like nobody's bussiness.. crampy, bloated and gas pains... Like right now the room is spinning. So just a few minutes ago I took a test.. Not FMU. I thought I saw pink again on the sides of where the line is supposed to be.. but no line that connects throught the middle. So AGAIN.. I take it apart and DH comes in and goes there is pink feathering on the test. not on the edge where I saw the pink dots but one the actual test part.. just on side.. and not a clear line...


All I have to say is W-T-F?????? These are the dollar store tests.. Are they really bad?? Or I am PG..????

I am going to test again tommorow with FMU.. AF is due sometime after or on Tuesday.. Cycles have been weird..

Hmmm...could be but they could also be evaps. Make sure you only look at it during the time frame. Evaps can be nasty things on a TTCer's mind! The "ghostly" looking lines without color are most likely evaps and any kind of dent should be too. Keep trying though, you might have it if there is a hint of pink during the time frame!

Dollar tree tests do work - I got a bfp on them and believe it or not, my ob has the same tests in their office - not the same box, so not sure if it's dollar tree, but the same type of test. How many dpo are you? Normally, I'd say wait until closer to af, but since you already started testing . try another first thing in the morning. If those lines were indeed there, they should get darker every two days as hcg doubles. So if you can hold off, wait until your first pee tomorrow and try again!

How many dpo are you? Normally, I'd say wait until closer to af, but since you already started testing . try another first thing in the morning. If those lines were indeed there, they should get darker every two days as hcg doubles. So if you can hold off, wait until your first pee tomorrow and try again!

Okay. I did some reading on evap lines and that is probably what happened with Friday and Saturday's tests.. but I can't explain the little pink feathering that appeared within the time limit this evening.. hmmm...

Seeing pink is a good thing and this early it could be very faint!

Here's some info. on evaps from another site:

"What's an evaporation line? Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture passes over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line." It may appear at any time-- as soon as the urine hits it, after a few minutes as the test absorbs the moisture, or after the 10-minute time limit. It may appear when the test is drying, or after it has dried. It may disappear as the test is drying, or after the test has dried, or not disappear at all.

The simple fact is that there is always "something there" that is slightly visible-- it's simply the antibodies on the test that would turn pink in the presence of hCG. When the test becomes wet, or as it dries, or after it dries, the antibody strip may become more visible. Therefore, all tests may have them. It is not a defect; it's just how tests are made.

A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid.

A positive result will generally stay positive for 48 hours. Some very faint lines may fade and become difficult to see, however. Note: sometimes a line will appear briefly as the dye in the test passes over the area where a positive result would show. This is not a positive result.

My suggestion: as soon as urine is applied to your test, set a stopwatch for 9 minutes, 45 seconds. Place the test on a flat, dry surface and walk away. When the alarm goes off, read the test from the same distance you would read a book-- allow 15 seconds to examine the test. If there is a pink line (or blue, obviously, if your test uses blue dye), you are pregnant. If there is no line at the 10-minute mark, you are not pregnant or you are testing too early and there is not enough hCG to be detected in your pee. "

That is just like what I saw on friday except that on the thick edge of the test there was a pink dot the same color as the control (on both sides). And tonight (I didn't get an evap line but...) right at the end of the evap line on the face (top surface) of the test there was pink smudging. (like I said this was within the time limit.
Now I will be lucky if I can sleep tonight in anticipation of testing tommorow.

ANNNDD tommorow I am starting a week long graduate class and I randomly am taking it with someone from high school.. So I will either be puffy eyed from crying or squirming in my seat from excitement.

First of all, I know how crazy this can make you. Honestly, my first thought was evaporation lines. I got my first evap line testing last week. I freaked out b/c I could definitely see "something" in the test area, DH saw it too. I even got the weird dots you described on the top and bottom. But alas, it was an evap line and I got AF a few days later. The "feathering" you talked about- could it be the background, before it turns all white it looks sort of like smudged pink marks? I've gotten that before too. Definitely retest and let us know.

You have me hysterical over here!!! I knew you would not be able to hold out I would definately test again tomorrow AM with the FMU & see what happens. It is still early even though some have gotten their BFP's early on. Definately wait it out & see what happens. Worst case, you can test on Wednesday morning & see what happens as then you are "technically" late!!!

I would buy the one's that say Pregnant or Not Pregnant. There is less confusion that way IMO.

sorry about the BFN. has your LP been varying or your O date? just wondering why your cycle has been changing. because there could always still be a chance.

I will say in my experience, when I've seen something, I've been pregnant. test again today or tomorrow with FMU

Like I said to you before, you can't count yourself out until AF comes...You might have O'ed later then you think! I highly recommend getting the OPK's & the Clear Blue ones with the face! Then you can know for sure what is going on!

I have no idea what is changing LP or O.. I had no EWCM this month. I guess I need to get OPK's. I just don't want to. I know that is stupid but... still.. I don't.

If you need to, next cycle I would suggest the OPKs too. My O date varies from CD13-19 and my LP can vary from 12-15 days. I have temped and know my signs well so I'm rather certain when I O.

I did NOT have luck w/ the Dollar Tree tests. I tested a BFN w/ FMU on a DT test. Later that day, not convinced, I sent DH to buy a CBE digital and at 10:00 pm I got an unmistakeable "pregnant" on the CBE.
