I joined a gym - how long does it take
to see results? I don't know why but 6 weeks is in my mind. I obviously don't expect anything to happen overnight. I have been going for 2 weeks now and I do the treadmill or bike for 30-45 minutes, aiming for 2 miles at least. Then I do weights for my abs, thighs and arms. I am also watching what I eat, drinking water etc. I should see something by the end of the summer, right?

I would break up your weight training and focus on different muscle groups each work out:
Chest & Tri's Back & Bi's Legs & Shoulders
That way, you are resting each muscle group since you are not working the same muscles during each workout.
Abs you should do every day-- at least I do.
As for cardio, I would continue doing the same amount of time-- but also switch up what you are doing. Once your body gets used to the treadmill, it does not burn as many calories-- so you should try to do either different cardio machines in the same workout, different workouts on the same cardio machines- or a different cardio machine each workout-- rotate them.
As for when you will see results-- I think it depends on what you had been doing before, and what you define as results. In 6 to 8 weeks-- I am sure you will see some changes though-- but don't get discouraged if it does not happen right away.
