I just have to say I'm so proud of my little AJ
I made a deal with the pediatricians’ office.
I hate shooting her up with a bazillion shots so the last visit was the MMR and Hep but they had to let me delay the Chicken Pox.
I had to promise that I’d be back. They are concerned parents lie about coming back. Being as I’m new to the practice they weren’t sure about me.
But I came through. I was THERE!
So AJ goes in and gets weighed etc. They have me take all her clothes off and then finally her diaper. Afterwards I put back on the diaper and her shirt. I figured after her shot she’d be too angry to let me pull something over her head.
So they have me hold down her arms and the nurse held down her legs. You could tell she knew something was up. She had her pacifier and a pen she’d swiped. So the nurse does his thing and instantly you see AJ’s face scrunch up and she tries to squirm away from the pain. She’s not happy but not crying.
The nurse pulls the needle out and … and nothing. She was totally fine. I let her hands go and she went back to playing with the pen like she didn’t know what just happened and didn’t care.
The nurse put the band-aid on and said “huh, really, no tears? Wow, usually they remember when the Band-Aid is put on. What a little trooper you have”.
I have to say I’m so proud of her. She’s my big girl!
I’ve seen her scream and cry so hard that she hyperventilates so this was a first but my opinion is that it was only one shot. She didn’t have to endure it another time on the other leg, it was just once and done. I think that made a big diff.
But to AJ …
way to go! Made my morning so much less stressful. Had a blast all the way to daycare!

My youngest DD never cries for the shots. My oldest is so dramatic that I am always amazed when she gets threw it with no tears
