I just left DD in hysterics at Nursery school...
I mean HYSTERICS.... beside herself.... I don't think I can do this to her.... I had her in a 2's program last year and she was fine at first but miserable towards the end... I switched schools, thought it would help... but here we are again....Day 3 and this time its worse. Is it terrible for her not to go until next year? Am I going to create more of a problem if I don't make her go? Help...

I say give it two weeks.......
Most teachers I've spoken to said it takes the kids about two weeks to adjust.

I would say give it two weeks....if you can bear it and if she is still upset then pull her out. I know a mom whose little boy was SO upset last year - it went on for a month so she pulled him out and he started pre k this year with no problems - he is ready now...he was not ready last year.

From someone who has BTDT keep her there. Jack freaked for one entire month last year. It was horrible. One day he just ran in, loved it, and never looked back.

Keep her in. She will get over it. And she will love it! It make just take a couple of weeks. And be strong when you drop her off. She feeds off of you.

Re: I just left DD in hysterics at Nursery school...
Thanks everyone!!!! It's so hard because she is such an outgoing, friendly child... so its weird that she is having this issue. I thought it was due to me being pregnant...baby coming etc last year... but I guess not.

I agree to give it more time. Once she gets it that this is the routine, I'm sure she'll adjust.
In the meantime...

Re: I just left DD in hysterics at Nursery school...
AJ is 2 and still screams and thrashes when we drop her off at 'school'
I've waited around and she's quiet within minutes but this is 5weeks in! Just last week she got to a point where she doesn't want to leave daycare. Before that, she'd RUN away from school when she saw us.
Now they've moved to a new location and its like starting all over for us. Screaming not only in the morning but also running from them in the afternoon.
Unfortuantely I have no choice, she must stay in school. We can not keep her home as we both work FT. She has a GREAT time during the day. I call and can here her laughing. I have called her my little 'fraud' because I swear she fakes it!!
Its so hard!
Good Luck!
