I just saved money on my car insurance..
by moving to NYC.
How does that happen?

I wanted to switch mine from suffolk to queens and it was going to go from $220 for 2 cars to $500!

Possibly because if you're working in the city as well as living there, you probably dont' have a daily commute as you may be taking public transportation. they deduct from the rate if you only use the car for errands and weekends and not a daily commute.

How do you insure 2 cards for that little?? Is that for a 6 month premium?
We don't carry collision on one of our cars and our policy is about $900+ every six months. It was the best deal we could get -- and we have no claims / accidents / etc.

We have Geico. We just switched addresses though, not companies. We moved from Port Washington.
DH uses it primarily to get to Queens. I'm thinking we saved because DH doesn't spend any time on the LIE anymore. He is basically a bridge away from work now.

really?- I have brand new cars with full coverage- max coverage too- now they are each with a different company- and I pay $120 a month for each one (they are registered in suffolk- that makes a difference)
I have All State for me and Tavelers from my husbands car-
2 major claims this year- one was a 1 month old very expensive car that was totaled- and I think my insurace went down

the town you live in, amount of time traveling, marriage, history all make a difference driving.
when combineing cars in 1 policy, you get multicar discount which can save you a buck and also take defensive driving to knock off more money

I just got my Geico renewal. It's $482.40 for six months for an 06 Ion. Most other places I checked into were at least $900 for the same coverage!
