I just wish car makers could
build cars with built in car seats or toddler seats and booster seats.
Today my friend and I are going to my grandmother's development to go the pools. She has a son 4 days older than my daughter. It was so be so much easier on her if we could all go in one car, but we can't. It's not that we can't put his car seat in my van, we can but it's do I trust that I have installed it or reinstalled it properly is more of the question.
It would just be so much easier so that we can "car pool". By the time that we can meet up and go in one car these kids are going to be old enough that they probably won't want to hang out anymore with each other.
Just my thought/ vent of the day.

I think certain cars do have that feature. Would be nice if all of them did though!

Re: I just wish car makers could
The ones that are built in are more like boosters than actual car seats though. The regular car seats we all spend $100s of dollars on are that expensive due to all the security features they have. Yes, many of them are expensive because of the cool patterns and unnecessary features such as cup holders, but they are the safest for our babies
Now, if only cars would come with those cool, safe car seats. That is something I would love!
I agree though, I think it is crazy that everytime I go out with friends we all have to drive because who wants to reinstall the car seat

I've gotten VERY good at installing and uninstalling Ava's carseat for this very reason. I hate taking more cars than needed Maybe go somewhere and have a certified installer show you the proper way?

Re: I just wish car makers could
Several cars have booster seats, because there's no real safety factors involved. As long as it's attached to the car, and lifts DC to the proper height, it's a good booster. Plus, the cars that do have them, just fold up into the back of the seat so older kids and adults can use the car. Carseats, however, are constantly being improved. If I buy an off-lease car that's 3 or 4 years old, I don't want a carseat that came with that car. I want the newest and safest seat available. Also, what do you do with the seat when you don't have a child in it?
A better solution is to have some sort of standard quick attachment method. Not like LATCH, but something that you could take any car seat from any manufacturer and just click it into a bracket. The bracket could fold out of the way when not in use, and would take seconds to put a seat in or out of.
Now, if I only had years of free time, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and access to facilities to create, test, and sell something like this, I'd be rich!
