I know I asked this before... (hair coloring)

I could swear with my first DC my OBGYN (who is very laid back) told me I couldn't color my hair until the 2nd (or was it 3rd?) trimester...

Well- I called the other day, to find out if they are still saying this and was told "they will not give me the ok, nor will they tell me no- there isnt enough research to prove it one way or another- so it's up to me"

Gee- that helps!

So my roots are so bad, a tree is literally going to start growing out of my head..

Can someone give me some insight.

M... my OB told me the same thing, BUT, he told me that he would prefer that I didn't. So, I dealt with the forest of roots that I had in my head, and colored my hair about 2 weeks PP.... I rushed, and did NOT walk....

I feel your pain girl... I'm a brunette, but been a blonde for years and my roots are so bad. My Doc is laid back and said he thinks it's fine, but if I'd like to wait till after first tri for my own worries than I can do that. I have my first highlight appt next week... Thank Goodness! I'll also be over 12 weeks then and just in time for the holidays.

I only highlight so it doesn't touch the scalp.

Re: I know I asked this before... (hair coloring)

Mine said to wait until the 2nd trimester -
My cousin, who is an OBGYN and is pretty laid back w/ herself w/ EVERYTHING also waited until the 2nd trimester. -

If you are only getting highlights, and you're still worried, see if they'll use a different technique - My sister paints mine in w/ a fine brush so nothing really touches my scalp ........

Re: I know I asked this before... (hair coloring)

My Ob says 24 weeks for regular color. I do herbal instead though. One day (last pregnancy), my hair girl came with me to the health food shop and showed me what to get. I would buy the stuff and then she would do it in the salon for me at a discounted rate (since I wasn't using the salons color). I would look into something like that. She recommended "herbatint" over "henna". She said that henna can do funky things to your hair, expecially after going back to regular color.

ETA: I have already done it twice this pregnancy and I am only 16 weeks.
