hmm i couldn't remember either so i waited til 13 weeks and did it. couldn't stand the grey anymore. i know i waited til my first tri was over the first time too. my DR doesn't recommend doing it at all-but i know many who do it after the 1st trimester. as for the reason why you're not supposed to-i'm not totally sure!Chat Icon

Highlighting is fine(they shouldnt touch your scalp) and coloring use something natural. Either way I waited till 2 trimester..

My OB suggested I wait until 2nd tri. I get highlighted and as mentioned, yes it does not touch your scalp but the odor could be the issue. Most products they use these days are not very strong. It's been a while since I've smelled "bleach" during a highlight.

LOL I forgot everything from my first PG.Chat Icon

My dr says highlights are OK in well ventilated salons and if the smell did not make me puke. She said vege hair dyes were fine, as were semi-permanent ones. I dye my hair black, which already raises a red flag so she was not thrilled with me doing permanent chemical dyes.

My doctor said it was fine, I waited until my second trimester, I am going this Saturday and I am so excited!

I just wanted to add that I was talking about highlights.

highlite is ok because it stops before your scalp.... 2nd trimester is recommended thought (im guessing due to the fumes while in the salon)

i've forgotten most everything too... but i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, cause if i really remembered my last pregnancy there's no way in HE!! i'd be doing it again Chat Icon

i don't dye anymore, but last time around i did it at 12 weeks. my doc didn't instruct me one way or another, but i think second tri is fine. my stylist also use a vegetable-based dye just to be on the safe side, but i don't think that's necessary.
