I know it is early but I have been thinking about BF again
I BF Luka for 6 weeks and stopped only because I had mastsis in one of my breasts the other one wasnt satisfiying him so I would also give him a bottle and he took to the bottle that he didnt want the breast anymore. The only problem I had was that one feeding took almost an hour and that was with 2 working breasts and about 20 minutes he was hungry again so it was very draining but I didnt mind. I would like to try again but am worried that the same thing is going to happen again and I really wont have time to do it with a 14.5 month old running around. Does anyone have any advise from BTDT moms? Should I just pump from the beginning?

Re: I know it is early but I have been thinking about BF again
I've been going over the same things in my mind. While I don't mind pumping. I can't imagine what it will be like with a little one under foot. But the same can be said about BFing the baby or feeding a bottle of formula. Things are just going to be different.

You should definitely try BF if that is what you want. I find that pumping took just the same amount of time that latching did and I wasn't able to be mobile - I had to plug in the pump, sit and it got quite boring for me. I loved the bond of BF and holding my baby and it was also great because you can be mobile while doing it. A cousin of ours just had a daughter and has a 2 yr old son and is BFing. Baby is latching on and mom is running around taking care of her 2 year old while the baby is on her breast. She's loving it and its been working great for her.
Good luck and Congrats again!

Re: I know it is early but I have been thinking about BF again
With my adoption- if my son is 5-8 months old I will pump. If he is under 5 months old I will pump and try to get him to latch. If he is older than 8 months then I won't pump most likely because by the time I get my supply even close to up he will be ready for regular milk.
If I were to get pregnant again I would visit an LC prior to giving birth and go over everything that happened during BF #1. I would develop a game plan for success with #2. There are things you can do to help ensure better success.
So I guess my answer is that I will not give up BF future child because of difficulty I experienced with Molly. I hope not to pump full-time again and have a baby that actually nurses.

I would definitely try! Jordana will eat anything, adn fast- so I don't know about other babies, but I started pumpign around 4 weeks with her. I had a huge bank of milk in Fridge.
I think talking a LC is the best way to go.

You should definitely try! I am BFing and it is really easy, espcially when I have him in his sling and do it.

Thanks for all the responses. The sling seems like a really good idea and I think also talking to a LC is a good idea also.

Re: I know it is early but I have been thinking about BF again
Adrianna I am going through the same thought process, since DD will be 14 months old too when #2 is born. I BF her for 4 months and would def like to do the same for the next one. I think it’s possible, you never know how the next one will take.
Personally, I despise pumping, so that’s out for me, but I def agree with Michele31, line up an LC before so you have a gameplan. I can def say I am 150% more aware, have more knowledge and experience with BF’ing, it’s going to be tough, but I totally think we will be running around after a toddler while having a newborn feeding :)
